Dripping Smooth Criminal tonight that steeped for 6 months, and boy does this stuff just get better with age :vapor:

Sometimes people think I am exaggerating when I say 5+ month steep on SC is phenomenal, but dripping that liquid at that age is something many have to remark on -- meaning it's remarkable!

As much as I am loving rebuilding right now, I still use my regular attys. I am pushing some pretty serious watts on a mech and a dual-coil build, and it's great, but the TH and old-school feel of the vape of regular attys just can't be beat. I've also found that upon waking I can't vape those airy (or open) devices as they make my early-morning gut feel a wee bit queasy -- so I rock regular attys for the early morning. Well, I guess I vape with them at night too since I am vaping on my trusty Joye right now as I type this -- man, that full TH will always strike me as the way a vape should feel.

well darn! I was about to hit you up for those regular joye attys........... now to find out you still love them-boo hoo for me

Ha! I am setting up a rotation of new devices (mechanicals, RDAs, driptips, etc.), but one thing I must have is my Provari and Joyes!

Looking at EM's site. Is there a difference other than threads in the 510, 306 and 901 bridgeless attys...performance or otherwise that I should purchase (w/adaptors if needed)? I'll be using it on standard eGo twists and a Sigelei Zmax. TIA

They're all quite different. The 510 has 510 threads, a barrel and a coil in a tiny ceramic cup surrounded by metal mesh. Pretty much the standard. It may or may not have a bridge, which I would recommend removing.

306 has 510 threading but no barrel. Instead the drip tip goes over the atty and serves as the barrel. This puts the coil closer to you and gives a warm, intense vape. Again, may or may not have a bridge. The 306 is my preferred atty.

The 901 is similar to the 510 but has a 901 connection (you'll need an adapter) and draws air from the side rather than the bottom. This means you'll always have a very clear, airy draw but also means it will leak so you need a drip shield (I recommend drip shields no matter what atty you're using though). 901s have awesome flavor, but in my experience consume crazy amounts of juice and the one that I tried didn't last very long compared to the 306s I normally use.

All a matter of personal preference, but I hope these descriptions help.

I had a bridged Boge 510 that I think I screwed up dry burning too long and everything tasted burnt and terrible. Maybe dry burning bridged attys is the best idea? I also have some kanger horizontal coil cartos that I've pulled the wicking out of but not sure they have the cup in them...also wasn't sure of I should remove or leave the center vertical tube in them (if so, do I drip into that tube or down the side?

Are you talking about atties or cartos? It sounds like you're talking about cartos in this post.

Interesting. Then, in theory, couldn't one use a LR 510 to get a warmer vape similar to the 306?

Sort of. LR in atomizers is 1.5ohm, not sub ohm like rebuildables so the 306 is still going to give you a warmer more intense vape. But then again, it's all personal preference, so you may not even find the vape drastically different from the 510 and 306.

I've been dry-burning my 510 bridged atomizers for years.
The longer you dry burn them the cleaner they get.

But what happens to a lot of people who don't have the right instructions is that you might either...
1) Not dry-burn long enough in which case you are baking the gunk and burning it, but not getting it all off
2) Not wash the atomizer out before doing the dry burns, which might bake some of the juice that's still in the mesh
3) Not was the atomizer out after doing the dry burns, in which case you might be tasting all the ash

The instructions in the following thread have been around for years and are proven to work well...

Sorry for the confusing post. I was actually talking about both, a Boge 510 bridged atty and I also got a pack of Kanger horizontal LR cartos that I pulled the filler out of so that I could use as a cheap dripper. The Kanger cartos work OK without the fuller but I could then see how poorly and unevenly the coils were wrapped it them and think I'd be better off just using an atty designed for dripping in the first place!

Great! Thanks for the link. You're absolutely correct...I was doing numbers 1 and 3 of the things wrong that you described!
I'm looking at either getting some Joye 510s or some Empiremods Bridge Free LR510 XL attys. Which do you guys suggest? I'm guessing I'll go kinda middle of the road or some of each res since I'm not sure how "hot" I want them to vape.

Well those cartos aren't going to give you very good results. Even though they are horizontal coils, which is a step in the right direction for what you're trying to achieve. The real issue is that there's nothing to hold the juice. On atomizers there's the metal mesh around the coil cup that holds juice, but when you pull the filler out of a carto you've just got a coil sitting in the bottom of a tube. That's going to cause two things; first, the wick is only going to get juice when you hold it at an angle and have one of the sides of the wick in the puddle of juice, and two, because there's no filler down there your juice is just going to come straight out the bottom. The second issue with juice coming out the bottom may not be a huge issue with a sealed adapter and drip shield, but I still wouldn't bother with it.

Just pick yourself up a couple cheap atties (no need to jump on HH.357s at first) of a couple different kinds and play around—see what you like.

Hi all. Long time reader, infrequent contributor to this thread. However, as a Joye 510 atty user, this thread is where I feel most comfy-cozy. That said, I just realized that 2 weeks ago I reached the 5 year mark as a non-smoker. Thought I'd share that with folks I can relate to the most. Btw, where did THAT time go? LOL

So, I'm getting a little nervous here that my beloved (2.2 ohm, standard) Joye 510s are starting to look like dinosaurs and may be only a matter of time before they are phased out of existence. As Mr Mann once said to me; (paraphrasing) "They (Joye 510s) feel like home to me". Truer and more eloquent words were never spoken, IMHO.

I'd love to purchase a nice cache of them. I took advantage of the Digital Ciggz special but that ship has clearly sailed. I'm wondering if anyone has thought about a group purchase? Thoughts?

Hmm...I spoke today with Betty at Joyetech (through Alibaba) and it's not looking promising. She said they are, and I quote, "almost discontinued" and if I wanted some it would be better to go through JoyetechUSA which sells them at around $9 a piece. I am still checking Alibaba and other sources as I know for a fact that they are out there in an abundance and someone is looking to move them. We just have to find "them".

p.s. Congrats, RichieG, on your 5-year-long accomplishment!

congrats on 5 years! I'm around 3 years. and I too am worried about not being able to find my SR joye 510 attys. I don't wanna rebuild! so please, you guys, keep me in your "looking for 510 attys" loop!
I asked one vendor if he had any in his back room. and sadly he doesn't know what a joye 510 atty is :(
