Regular Atty Drippers (A Dying Breed?)

It was recommended I join this thread since I, too, am an "old-school" dripper. Have been since early 2010, tried cartos and clearos and all the other tank-type ..... and nothing compares. I think if people would initially try quitting cigarettes by only direct dripping, a LOT more people would be successful, immediately, as I was.

I actually wrote an eBook on it for beginners and am in the process of setting up an informational website because I do truly believe direct dripping is THE best course of action for people who want to quit cigs in the least painful way possible.

Anyway, HI!

P.S. I just use a regular eGo battery, 510 dual coil atomizer with a cone and a drip tip. So freaking simple, so delicious, so nutritious. Well maybe not nutritious ;)

If it wasn't for dripping I would still be smoking, because there is no way I would continue to deal with the hassles that come with other forms of juice delivery.

Ha! Don't worry, DC2, they will always have the better version out tomorrow (until tomorrow turns into today). LOL Man, I feel ya'.

How's every thing in Florence these days? I grew up in Noti, so about half way between Eugene & Florence. (dirt road & a party line back then)

I was born in Missouri (St. Louis suburbs, but might as well have been any major city, since all the suburbs from mid-century on were the same), spent 25 years of my mid-adulthood as a happily transplanted Minnesotan (Lake Superior and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area are truly magical places), and am now even happier as a transplanted Oregonian. Missouri summers were too sweltering, and while the long, frigid Minnesota winters kept the riff-raff out, the cold and snow got tiresome for me after a quarter-century. As an old fart now, I prefer the balmier, temperate climate of the Oregon coast. Not too hot, not too cold---just right (like Baby Bear's porridge...).

Except for the ugly commercial strip up Coast Highway 101 (something almost every small town has), Florence remains a wonderful little podunk Oregon coast town (unlike Newport, which has been commercialized to death for the tourist trade). I live right on the wide-as-a-football-field Siuslaw River in its final rush to the Pacific after coming down from the coastal mountains. On the other side of the river a humongous sand dune rises up, topped by Douglas firs that look tiny from where I sit on my couch, with the ocean on the other side, which I can hear but not see. No buildings, cars, or people---just nature.

I hope to remain where I live now until I shuffle off this mortal coil, but that may be dicey, given the overdue tsunami or the predicted rise of the ocean. Either would take out my house---one fast, the other slow. Oh well, at this point the illusion of security is long gone for nearly everyone, including me. Guess I'll just roll the dice and take my chances.

Is the striper run in the Siuslaw still as good as it use to be? We use to fill a freezer out of that river.

Hey.... how do you all go about doing a quick clean on a little 510 bridgeless atty? What I've been doing now is roll up some paper towel, stuff it in the end and blow hard a few times on the battery end until I don't get any liquid.

But I I was thinking that buying a big ol' box of bulk q-tips might be an easier alternative than the paper towel.

    Any suggestions or tips?

Yeah... that there is a last resort method. :) Right now, I've been blowing it out between juices and I still get a clean vape. I don't have any foul, dirty juices that leave a lot of residue, so I haven't gunked it yet. I was just wondering if there was anything better than just a good, sustained blow into the battery end, into a paper towel or some absobant medium. Seems to work like a champ so far.

Buried in this thread are various discussions various atty cleaning methods. Some dry burn, some soak, some boil, some do a combination of things.

Here's one section where cleaning is discussed:

Honestly, I rarely ever do anything other than blow out. Nope, not even dry burns. 98% of the time it's a blow out.

Nice thread Mr Mann! Sorry you never got the DID to perform to your liking - I use (at least)one of mine (and the Arrow, too) every day.... but I also use a 901 every day :)
    And an i06, too.

The thing that is killing disposable attys is that new starter kits are all clearo based - heck, I bet most people who haven't started with cig-a-likes in the last six months have never tried a carto, let alone a dripping atty. The upgrade path is now Evod/protank on a twist/spinner to MVP /vamo to provari/mechs with RDAs.
Not that there's anything wrong with that, but a lot of people are missing out on the easiest path to a great vape.

    Unless they find this thread!!

Whereas I've never actually tried a clearo... too many reports of muted flavor.

Thanks. You know, I did get the DID working great, but I couldn't ever get the hit to feel right to me. Huge clouds. Pretty dern good flavor. But the hit, oh the hit. Man, I need to have some resistance and a thump. I take big hits (always have, LOL), but genesis attys made me cough and have, well, hiccups.

p.s. You're so right though. I was talking to a good friend today (newish vaper), and I asked her if she had ever used cartos and she said no. That is mind boggling. I don't care for cartos, but I think they were pretty damn reliable. I have tried all the clearo technology and IMO, those things are grades below cartos. Anyway, if someone else disagrees, too late, back to attys. LOL

p.s.s. I still love Jim and I hope the DID thread Index I made helps someone out. I don't regret the time I spent with those vapers. All good people.

I think many end of looking into attys though. I came in with the cig-a-like to ego to Vamo route you mention... sticking primarily to clearos, mostly evods.

I picked up a glass tank to give cart tanks a shot, and I ended up trying out a dripping atty so I could vape a juice without commiting to an entire tank of it... Generally speaking, new vapers don't have a large library of juices, so dripping doesn't really appeal much. But, like me, as their library grows, they start to see dripping as a something you almost need to incorporate... unless you have a small army of clearos and a good indexing system. :)

I was just dripping for a bit... got a bunch of new juices in this week... without that humble little atty, it would have taken a long time for me to try them all out. But with that unassuming little tube, I managed to zip through all 9 flavors without much fuss.
