If you are new, I would go with a regulated mod. Mech mods always push the same power, so you have to have different ohms to get more or less power. Not to mention if there is a short or push the battery past it's amp limit, bad things will happen. With regulated, box mods or tube mods, it is much safer although I think most DNA devices don't have reverse polarity protection. My choice would be a box mod, like a segelei, pioneer4u, hexohm, MVP 3, or one of the bigger mod makers like dogmods. I'm sure you will find all the info you will need in the forums.

Hello and welcome to the forum Sherako4. Glad to have you here!:)

With a mech mod the only way to "fine tune" your vape is to build a new coil. With a high vv/vw regulated mod (and its buck/boost circuitry) you can "fine tune" with a push of a button. On a mechanical mod your voltage drops as you vape, with a regulated mod this does not happen. Your first hit is just as good as your last hit.

I prefer regulated over mechanical. The only exception is for my REO's (small bottom feeding box mods).

I would recommend going for EVOLV DNA40D powered device. I am not really fond of the cheap Chinese electrical boards, as I only had trouble with them... (error messages "to hot", "atomizer short"..etc one even shorting the battery..) and you never know at what voltage they will fire, despite of their setting / display.

I have number 10 of the Big Bully by DogMods and it is a big mod, but BOX MOD LYFE is right…it's the way to go. I have 9000mah of battery, 60 watts of regulated power and I can go 2 days on a single charge if I need to. Nick is a small modder but makes a great product. I still have some great mechs but I rarely use them because once you have control over the power, no real safety concerns of hard shorts, venting, etc, you are freed up to just enjoy. You also don't have to carry around spare 18650s everywhere with you and that is really a big plus. With a mech I get noticeable drop off in an hour or so, but with a proper box, battery drop-off is a thing of the past.

I am a fan of the DNA boards, but for an RDA even with dual 18650s, it just doesn't have the power or the battery life. And at 40 Watts the batteries sag quite a bit under load with a normal sub-ohm build. This is why so many mod makers have gone to LiPo batteries and made bigger boxes. At 50-60 Watts 2 18650s don't really cut it and then you start carrying around extra batteries with you again.

The DNA30/40 is whatI use for tanks like the Rose/Kayfun/Squape, etc. And with those I'm running 11-13 or 15-17 Watts most of the time. My DNA 40 flask is always got a Rose on it and I go nowhere near the 40 Watts on board. And that way it lasts all day no problem. Once you go regulated, it's hard to go back IMO.

I myself prefer a regulated mod due to safety. I own a few mech mods and for the appearance and sleekness of them I enjoy them. You just have to understand ohms law and battery safety when using them. Make sure you buy batteries from a reputable dealer. The key is always to be safe and a mech mod could become a pipe bomb at any time. The key is to find what your vaping style is and what works for you. Just make sure you are safe most importantly. I can't stress the word SAFE enough.
