Regulated/unregulated ?

Regulated mods are like vamo, zmax, provari, sid, vtr, tesla. They have a screen. The have some sort of voltage and/or power control; they have short circuit protection and stuff like that.
A mech/unregulated mod is just a container for a battery, with a switch to turn on off.
You can get a module called a kick to drop in a mech mod on top of the battery to provide regulation etc. You can also get an inline voltmeter to put on the top of the mech between the mech and the topper.
Unregulated means there is no circuitry in the mod that adjusts the voltage to any set level (you get whatever voltage the battery is putting out)
Regulated means the voltage output of the mod is dictated by the internal circuitry (either variable with user settings such as a VV device or a single fixed output all the time such as certain eGo models that are regulated to a constant 3.6 volts from full charge to dead)

Oh ok I see now. Are there a lot of people that use unregulated devices. This is going to be my upgrade from ego-t with pt2.
I'm thing I should go with a regulated item.

Yes; especially when new to vaping, a regulated mod is very usefull for experimenting/adjusting and checking volts and ohms.
Regulated: ego batteries are "regulated", as are the Advanced Personal Vaporizers (APV) like the Vamo, SVD, MVP and such. They don't all have to have a screen or controls other than the fire button. They do have a circuit of some type in them whether it's to keep it at a constant voltage, or to allow you to adjust the voltage or wattage yourself.
Unregulated: Most people think of Mechanical types (no wires or circuits) only, but there are many unregulated PV's out here, like the smoktech Bolt. You can have wires or electric buttons/switches, even LED's and volt meters on them, yet they have no circuits controlling the power to the atomizer. No wires or electronic switches = mechanical (and unregulated), Wires and electronic switches with no controls = unregulated.

A regulated mod is a great option to be able to try out different toppers, different resistance coils and different flavors with different PG/VG ratios. It gives you an easy way of controlling the voltage and/or wattage for the vape you like.
Once you've found your sweet spot, and know what works best together it's easier to configure your mech mod to give you the same vape.
