I quite supprised how quickly the coils get fouled up Gredie, as you change yours every 3-4 days, I thought after 1 week mine were bad too, I thought some people only change every 2weeks, their coils must be in a right muddle, I am also vaping@3.7V, and I did wash the coil and wick inbetween the week, but only with warm water, and it was so baked on after 7 days.

It depends how much you vape and probably the used liquid makes a difference too. When I'm vaping my iatty, I've to fill up at least 2 to 3 times a day. I don't wash the wick in between and I used a coil/wick for 7-10 days also, but there is a point where the flavor taste drops. 3-4 days in changing coil/wick is a result in doing the change at weekends and I'm using two iatties.

I dont change my wick until wire fails. If I see that Ody produce poor vapor, I put inside the GGTS 2x3 volt batteries. When wick stops responding on this voltage, I go to 7,4 until wire breaks.

I have a theory about wick. Factories say that wick cant get burned. I dont think that is true. I think that wick gets burned even a little, so every time we put a new wick we inhale some of its chemicals. But if wick gets burned, then nothing more exists to get burned, so we vape more healthy to my opinion. Also the remains of the PG-VG protects wick from get burned further. Also I enjoy much better a clogged wick in high voltage than a new wick in regular voltage. It produce more smoke and more throat hit without a burn taste because its clogged.

Someone will say that if we put more voltage to the wick then more heat will be produced, so more wick will get burned (if my theory is true). But I still say that better to vape on something that is already burned, because less wick is left to get burned (because of the higher temperature)

You cant burn something that is already burned. You cant burn ashes

Imeo. your theory is brilliant, I think I will follow that, but I was more refering to the wire that seems to get clogged up so quickly, I only ever use 3.7v, but I think I will move on to do your 6 then 7.4, but what reistance do you use for these 3 different Voltages, and bearing in mind that I am using the Iatty(original V1) Imeo??:vapor::toast:

I do that with a 1,5 ohm coil Grant. After 3-4 days the vapor is down. So I put 6 volts on GGTS. The first 5-6 inhales are not very good but after those inhales taste is more than ok. Of course I dont take long inhales as I used to do at 3,7 ohm. But after 1 hour of use I take long inhales again as I did with 3,7 volts.

Wire always looks like this after 2 days of use. There is no wire that can stay clean and no liquid that can help wire stay clean.

Also I have another theory about wire. Better to use a wire as thin as possible, like 0,12 or 0,10 for 4 reasons:

1. You make a big resistance (2,8 ohms) for 3,7 volts and vapes so well like a small resistance (1,4 ohm) with a fat wire. That way you save battery life. You can even double the life of the battery.

2. The thin wire with the big resistance can be vaped easily at six volts from the beginning without burn taste at all.

3. Thin wire has smaller length so heat is focused on a smaller area on the wick, so it has better and quicker responce

4. You dont spend valuable space making a wire and oput it inside an atomizer like Ody or other atomizer

I think fat wires are good for devices that dont have the ability to bring liquid very fast on the wire. That isnt happening on Odysseus for example

OK Imeo, I thank you once again for advice and I'l give it all a go, and hopefully plenty of this....:vapor: :vapor::vapor:
My best regards

I will deffo be doing this from now on, thanks VP.

I will also be heating the resistance wire, Kanthal has a bit of a funky taste at first.

Now I need to put a sticky note on my e-cig maintinance box to remind me. :p

I always preburn my wicks with a torch, the wick itself doesn't burn even at 2600 C it just glows red but there's something that produces a gas or smoke for the first few seconds, much better imo to get rid of whatever it is before I even make the coil.
