my vote as diy'er for over a year now is wizardlabs.us

i started out making juice with premixed pg/vg nic base like rugar7 is mentioning. while in theory it works its not the best option. only down side is you cant really controll the final nic mg level when you add flavorings as it will cause them to decrease and you might be getting more if you went with a higher nic base then you normally vape or less if you went right with your desired mg level.

when ordering you will want to get the following at minimum. pure pg, pure vg, nicotine in either pg or vg base, gloves as nicotine can absorb on skin and that is very bad. you will also need flavorings you will want to start by mixing around 3% flavoring and adding more as you go along. you will also need syringes with empty bottles to mix into as well as a diy calculator. I have used the ejuice me up app and the tood muller ejuice calculator online. once you put raw data into the calculator it will tell you in ml's how much of each ingredient to add.

its easier and more cost effective to mix in very tiny portions like 1ml and with no nic just the pg/vg/flavorings till you get the desired taste and then duplicate the recipe on a larger scale

most will start out with the minimum as to not invest too much into trying something out. even then your first order will probably be around 75 and up depending on how many flavorings you buy.

my typical order consist of 250ml's of nic pg based/ pg and vg. i believe the flavorings i use are 2ml's or dram's. that will last me and the wife 2 months. Im a heavy vaper and cant vape vg due to a intolerance(which is very rare), she is a light vaper and prefers higher vg.

Great answers, thank you very much.

Any suggestions on the amount I buy?

I'm guessing I will need equal proportions of PG and VG, but what ratio of flavourings and nicotine should I get in comparison?

It depends on:
- what mg/ Nic you're presently vaping and how many ml per week?
- how long do you intend to vape?
- what PG/ VG ratio do you prefer?
I've got some Flavorless Nic juice in the freezer from 27 months ago.

I am currently vaping 12mg/ nicotine, and don't intend to stop vaping any time soon. I'm going through about 40ml a week so far, but that was my first week of giving up smoking.

I'm don't have a preference for PG/VG ratio, as the E-liquid I use doesn't give a ratio. I will be experimenting, using trial and error. Probably start at 60%/40% PG/VG as that seems to be a standard choice for vapers on this forum.

ok first you would want to download a app like ejuice me up or you can google a online calculator like the todd muller ejuice calculator. there you can input your starting nic, desired nic level, pg ratio and vg ratio. that will give you an idea of how much it takes to make a bottle. then just multiple to make sure u have enough for how ever long between orders and for wasted error mistakes when starting

If you buy one Unflavoured PG E-liquid DIY base 52mg-5.2% 250ml £36.98 and mix it to 12 mg X 60/ 40 PG/ VG with 10% flavor (flavor may be more or less) you would have enuff Nic Juice to mix 1625 ml X 12 mg.

If that's too much you could always order the smaller Unflavoured PG E-liquid DIY base 52mg-5.2% 100ml £16.49,Nicotine,UK made

The Nic juice is in PG as it's water like and much easier to work with.
PG and VG (both USP) can be ordered from the Vendor or from your local Pharmacy.
You'll also need flavoring.

Here's a free easy to use calculator:

I've just ordered what I need in terms of base, nicotine, mixing and safety. Thank you very much for the guidance.

Now, time to decide which flavours I want to experiment with! I can see this being a lot of fun!

And sometimes frustrating
Wear gloves and glasses- Nic juice in the eye is very painful.
Mix small batches and those small batches you don't like...I used to dump them all in one bottle and every so often drip some to see what it tasted like.
Keep notes.
Best of Luck and Enjoy.

Thanks for the tips @Vapoor eyes er, a great idea instead of disposing of bad batches. Luckily my sister is a chemistry post-graduate, so I have some decent equipment already at hand.

I decided to use the first site you suggested, @djsvapour, for all of the base ingredients (nicotine/PG/VG), and necessary equipment.

With the flavourings, I used Cupcake World, for all different fruit and misc. flavours. I think it's a brilliant price for high concentrate flavouring, given the quantity it comes in. It equates to about $4 for 28.5ml, which is far cheaper than I saw anywhere else whilst scouring the vapour sites. I bought an array of these, so it will be interesting to see what recipes I come up with.

I also bought some tobacco flavouring fromE-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings. I found a couple of interesting products that I had to try out, I'm not sure if they are popular amongst DIYers.. 'Bitter Wizard' and 'MTS Vape Wizard'. They claim to improve the aftertaste of e-liquid, and soften the acidic/sour perception, respectively.
