Remember when they used to say "light cigarettes" and "low tar cigarettes" were a safer alternative to full flavored cigarettes.......................

The difference is that in example number one... It was the tobacco industry that made those claims.

Wereas in vaping, it is the community that makes them... As a community, we know that it is better than smoking because we all felt the benefits when we switched. And luckily for us... Science is on our side so far....

There's no combustion.

People smoke for the nicotine, but die from tar.

Sums it up nicely, I think.

Depending on what you read, there's a ton of harmful chemicals (I've read as high as 1,000) in cigarette tobacco and smoke. Are there harmful chemicals in these vaporized liquids? Sure, but it's a fraction of what is found in cowboy killers.

More like 4,000, but who's counting. :D

List of additives in cigarettes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

More than 4,000 chemical compounds are created by burning a cigarette, 69 of which are carcinogenic.

The proof is in the pudding. I had never felt as good as I did when I changed to vaping. I started to breath better, started smelling again and had more energy. I can tell by the way I feel that it is a healthier option. I don't spend 10 minutes every morning hacking and coughing. No one can tell me that they aren't better because I feel better.

One thing is they realized lighter cigarettes get inhaled more deeply, smoked more. That part could be true of ecigs.

Now they can't even call them light as it might imply they're safer. How this reflects on government might be relevant. Light cigs use a lighter colored tobacco. The difference is not opinion, it is fact, and yet can not be stated.
