I got me a new rm5 three days ago and have tried 8 different builds on it.

The result, I don't like it.

Back to my baby the rm2 for now.

But reason for the post is not to gripe but to get input from all of my fellow reonaughts

My builds ranged from 30g 1.1 ohm single coil. With extra cap hole taped over. To .7 ohm dual coils with 26g and 28g. Iirc 8 wraps give or take per coil.

I'm a organic cotton user typically. IOh my juice is 50/50 at 4mg nic

Thanks and I await the replies

Peace :)

What is it you're not liking? Too airy? No flavour?

Flavor is not as good as rm2 but acceptable. Air flow is adjustable to liking so that's not an issue exactly.

But it's the razor in my throat hit that gets me. It's like having hot legs and burning the cotton but neither is the case

I just caught the auto correct fail. "Remixer" instead of reomizer lol.

Anyway I should add what I dislike right? My issue is that no matter how high or low ohm I build. My cape hit feels like it's dry, scratchy razory.

I'm not new to rba but don't claim to be an expert either. I just saying my patriot, rm2 igo l. Never had this issue. Btw my igo is drilled out for cloud chasing and works fantastic for a single coil atty. but I'm a reo-nut so those atties don't get used much

Any suggestions for rm5 issues ??

I am so sorry you are having any issues with it but I am sure someone will help you. Of course it won't be me because I love my rm2 and have never tried anything else. Good luck to you and I look forward to reading and learning what helps. Thank you for posting this issue because it could help others.

I think the vg idea might be something. I'll give that a try. I'm with us on the rm2. I just wanted to give something new a try :)

I've got the rm5, love it...by far my favorite atomizer to use. The thing with the rm5, it's meant for lung hits and dual coils. Covering the opposite hole might be an issue as well. I use mine with both holes wide open and pull big long lung hits off of it. I build my coils hot, I've gotten use to the heat and it really brings out the flavor. I build .2 ohm dual ugly coils with 24g wrapped around a q-tip stick. That setup works for me. My wife has a rm5 also and she MTL hits off hers, don't ask me how but she does. I build her coils at .6 ohms, she has her AFC ring almost opened all the way, flavor is still good and the vape isn't hot.

That there. Are you lung hitting BHamilton ?
I think these bigger attys are much better suited to MTL. I'd also suggest (if you're not already doing it) to make sure the coils are directly in the airslot window - like look thru and see the coil like teeth in there.

The large bore tip is a must for lung hitting.

I use a cyclone and a Nuppin but you know what? I think I rate the rm2 over both
I think the RM2 and Cyclone are close with the edge going to the Cyclone and prefer the Nuppin above both of those. Each RBA has a sweet spot for the build that can be different from others. a 1 mm change in the coil position can really change the vape. You need to play with it's height and distance from the air hole. When I get a new RBA it typically takes a few tries to dial it in.

hey x,

yeah i was doing both LTM and lung hits. after like my 16th coil build, decided to give 30g dual coil a try. (of course both air holes opened now) it's hitting much better and the razor inhale isnt there. so two things are different this time

1. diff juice *higher vg mix)
2. higher ohms. with both coils installed, i ring in at 1.13ohm

i'm wondering if the gauge i was using (mostly 28g) is the issue ? idk just a thought. Like i said, i'm no n00b to rba/rda's but still learning the sub-ohm realm.

i think i just need to fiddle more until i find the right ohm + juice combo.

That's the key right there. find that ohms that make the juice pop for you,

Then select the gauge of wire for heat up time. Once I pick a ohm I then select the wire gauge to hit that ohm with 6 to 8 wraps and that gets me a good heat up time, not too fast or too slow. Of course YMMV but it's a good place to start.

I use the 6-8 wrap guide, too. Some juice/atty combos rock at .4ohm, others are best at 1.1ohm. Single coils versus duals also plays into that, of course, as does coil diameter.

The key is to have fun with it and experiment. Worst case, you're out 15 minutes and $0.05 to twist up some other combination. All the more reason, BTW, to have >1 reo so that you've always got something to vape while you're playing mad scientist.

Truth!

Speaking of multiple reos. I have 4 newer grands, 1 org grand, 1 mini 2.1 and a woodville. All of which have their own rm2 associated with them ;-)

Sounds like your just use to the rm2, if you wanna try a newer bigger atomizer, I'd suggest either the rm4, or the Odin. I've never tried the Odin but I've heard it's extremely versatile with different builds. People like SXD swear by them.

From what I've seen and read many people don't like the rm5, it's just a different animal and takes a certain type of person to appreciate it. That person is me, it was the first atty I ordered when I ordered my grand and it's been with me since day one. I instantly took to it and experimented with it for months before I finally decided what I liked the best with it. Good luck man, I'm sure you'll find your way with it and if not you could trade or look to sell it and get something else different.
