I just started making my own juice. I have old empty bottles from vendors that I would like to reuse. Does anyone have an effective and safe method to remove the labels? I tried soaking it in hot water which removed the label and not the adhesive. I also tried rubbing the adhesive with isopropyl alcohol which did very little. Any advice?

Other than that, I don't know what to stay. Maybe Goo-Gone. I don't care for Goo-Gone because of the smell, but it might work.
I use the 92% alcohol and it has worked every time for me.

Denatured alcohol or lighter fluid works. Just wash them if you use lighter fluid.
Excellent. I will give this a go! I'm using 91% iso alcohol but it didn't seem to have much affect when rubbing. I will try soaking it and see if that works. I also have some lighter fluid from my old smoking days (old = 2 weeks) so I'll try that if the iso doesn't work. Thank you.

Acetone also works well. If you have no acetone you can try fingernail polish remover which is basically acetone. The acetone will sometimes make the bottle turn cloudy though.
The best seems to be naptha lighter fluid for me but I ran out. Works well for cleaning the thermal paste off computer CPUs so I seem to go through it.

Probably along the same lines as WD-40, i.e., grease, I use Pam. Spray it on, let it sit a few minutes, wipe off.

I'm glad you asked about this problem. I've had big battles with some of the adhesives and I'll bet others have too. Something tells me you've helped others with this same problem.

I have been soaking in hot water and then using goo gone, then just rinse . works great.
I have been known to just stick new labels over the old ones, its quick and no fuss....
scratch off old label, should be left with goo. put peanut butter on the goo, and let it sit over night. wash off peanut butter next morning, no more goo. no chemicals required.

I've tried the lighter fluid and rubbing alcohol and they worked great. I'm currently soaking one in vegetable oil to try that out since I have a freakishly large bottle of the oil. I also went to walmart and picked up a label maker for 15 bucks!

used ronzonol lighter fluid for years in fine used bookstore to remove sticky labels and greasy stuff from delicate collectible books. for these labels, apply til soaked, let sit for a couple minutes then label should lift right off... apply more liquid to a rag and wipe down the bottle. quick and easy and smell gone almost instantly.
