I have my reo grand apart while doing a cleaning and wanted to know about removing the firing pin(thin strip) . Im not a newb at modding btw . I want to convert my reo to VV possibly . I already have a great idea .

I wanted to know if the firing pin is force fit on the connector or soldered though since id rather not break it if i dont have to . I cant really tell since it has the silicone insulation over it where it makes a connection with the feed post on the connector . Any help on how to remove it properly would be appreciated . Maybe Rob can chime in as i know he replaces the old ones with new ones all the time .

I do already have the chip i plan to use reflowed to a custom PCB i made . ALL SMD components so fitment should be easy .Nothing specially for the reo .It would be nice if i can adapt it though .

You can put a small regular screw driver in the atomizer connection to hold the center pin in place .With a small pair of pliers you can grab the brass tube that your feed tube attaches to and unscrew it.Once you have the bottom piece off the firing pin plate can be removed. I should warn you most fail when trying this procedure.Take your time and try not to push down hard with the screw driver you can break the center pin gasket . If you fail no big deal I have plenty of spares. I cut the bottom of the feed tube off when I rebuild mods push the old center pin out and replace with a new one.Taking it apart is time consuming but can be done. My second patent is do shortly once it goes on line I plan to do a complete rebuild your own grand and mini tutorial . By some spare parts and your set for life

Thanks for the help . I have experience with the center pins on battery connectors and know how fragile the gaskets are so shouldnt be too much of a issue . Gonna do some mockups on chip fitment before i start taking it apart . I already have the tube and cover off for cleaning .Tube came off very easily without ripping . Good time to get this bad smell/taste i got out too .

Wow that was easy . I love how serviceable this mod is . Very creative idea too . It came off in under a minute with zero damage .Love the treaded post . WHat is that ? Kinda reminds me off the nut off a bicycle spoke .

EDIT:pics removed since im not sure if Rob is ok with them being posted ?

Just got the thing and i feel like a pro lol . Now to turn it into a VV . May be a little tough but we'll see .May go with a step down chip to save space .

Str8v8ping, Thanks for posting the pictures. FYI, your REO is vintage late 1010/early 2011 as noted by the circular machining lines on inside. Robert started using a different miller in 2011 whose machines produced straight lined, with rounded corners, with a distinctive eyeball near the separation piece for bottle and battery.
