Removing the base of a SLB eGo-V Mega Help!!! Ideas!!

Need some help and or ideas on how to remove the base of this battery. I have one and it works great and has been for a few months with no issues at all. well other than me dropping it and having to resolder the ground inside head. Now a friend of mine gave me his broken one and i want to try and fix it and or put a better internal battery in it. The issue that i have with this second one and not with mine is that the base is really glued in good. on mine it was just a small tack of glue just in one spot. I am unable to get it off with out completely destroying the chrome and or the entire battery. The only solution i could come up with is to take a heat gun to it to soften the glue, but then i run the risk of completely melting the plastic over the lcd which i don't want to do. I have tried leaving in a car in direct sunlight for about 2hrs and that didn't work. I might try a little longer than 2 hrs but i dont want the battery to explode in this Texas heat.

any thought would be much appreciated.

Update: got it, just had to use a little heat from a micro butane soldering torch and pushed form the opposite side with a socket. Be careful not damage the internal battery, lcd cover or the chrome around the usb port.

got it working again but i decided that im gonna put a bigger internal battery into this one. Now its time to find one that will fit.

Unlike your issue, my base came off when I was pulling it off the USB after charging. I think the buttons popped out and I can no longer move the ohms up or down the digital display is off. It is still vaping but must be on 3.0. I am definitely not as technical as you but would love any advice you can provide.

The buttons are easily removed by using your fingernail. Remove them and then see if you can press the actual internal tactile switch. If that works make sure the base is all the way in the put buttons back in. They go in only 1 way. It more than likely is not lined up properly because the base pulled out. Let me know what happens.

Oops I didn't see that you said the display is off. So does the display not come on at all? Only when plugged in?

My buttons are missing. I can move up an down using a toothpick or something small. At that time I can see the display and when it is charging only.

If there is a local shop near you that sells the 650 or the mega. Hit them up for a broken one so you can grab the buttons from that. I picked up a few my self from a shop around the corner. Who knows you might even be able to repair a broken one like I did. It cost me $0 for a broken unit and with some soldering skills. Fixed it right up. To bad cant find a larger battery to put into mine. I actually have 3 mega's and only paid for one.

Thank you, that is a great idea. That never even came to mind.. You would think I might have at least asked the folks at the vape shops. Although I do have a little bit of an excuse I live in the big town of Eufaula, Ok. (Great Lake) I go vape store shopping in Tulsa and OKC fairly regularly when I am not on the internet.

I have not found any broken one at vape shops in Tulsa and they have about 10. Does anyone out there have one out there have on of these to have a broken 650 or the Vv2 Mega so that I can get the up down buttons to repair mine. I am not a rebuilder so that's all I really need. Willing to pay for shipping or any costs you might incur. I just really like mine and would like to get it working with out toothpicks. I think that maybe damaging and I maybe the one with it the broken box!
