ALOHA STATE
MERRY CHRISTMAS VILLE11111

Remember the blessings received this year and more importantly the blessings you have bestowed unto others. As God have loved us, be sure to love others in turn hopefully one day we may all have "peace on earth and goodwill towards men".

A couple of days ago I helped a friend order his very first REO since he was one who had no experience browsing the www. Probably get here on Friday and will be helping him get started coiling a RM2 for his grand. He wanted me to say hi to the rest of Reoville for him :).

My son is here visiting from LA so life is good.

Dennis, I'm pretty sure I heard Kellogg give you a very hearty HO...HO...HO!

God Bless and Aloha

What is the traditional holiday food stuffs in Germany?

I have a leg of lamb to slow roast [only 2 people this year, my kind of christmas]

Christmas Eve is all about presents and sparking children's eyes and small meals have the character of a side dish, which can be consumed while playing with the new toys. The actual christmas meals are scheduled on 1st and 2nd christmas day (25/26 Dec), which are national holidays. When I was a kid, my mom used to prepare fish (christmas carp), which I didn't like at the time. Nowadays this religious tradition has faded, and a lot of people seem to prefer heavier meals like roasted gooth with dumplings.

With my wife being a fantastic cook, we prefer lighter quality meals (as requested by the kids). This year, she surprised us with a salmon terrine on cumberland sauce, duck with Brussels Sprouts on pepper butter and mousse-au-chocolat on plum compote. Today, we'll traditionally have the house full of relatives, where we serve a chicken-broth fondue as party food, with draught beer and wine.

And tomorrow, I'll help my son move from Cologne to Aachen, to get rid off all the calories.

Last year HRH made salmon and all that. There's a rather inevitable culture clash around Xmas here - she's Dutch and i'm English/American. She was just showing me pictures of some of her family, basically having a barbeque at the dining table. Apparently, you cook your own food on a hotplate in the middle!

To me that defeats 2 major purposes.

1) If i cook my own food, i'd have remained unmarried! And used a microwave.

2) No arguments about food!

This year we decided to please ourselves - so it'll be some mackerel starter she calls 'kutbroodjes' which is not their real name, but an indication of how she dislikes making them and then steak! Which of course, is my idea of good food.

Xmas surf and turf :)

And Smurf (HRH)!
