I treat it like an expedition! It's a miserable day and one that can only be avoided with a hospital stay and that's equally unwelcome in my book.

Lunch is either a beef sandwich, greasy pizza, or for the really healthy - a baked potato. None of which furnishes me with enough calories for hours grovelling on cold floors.
So, apart from vape gear to last a week, i shall also be taking: coffee, thermos of HRH's gumbo soup, pork roast sandwiches on French bread, boiled eggs and ofc chocolate.
All of which is my idea of survival gear. Bear Grylls i'm not!

Good morning all! The cold spell got here. It's rainy and cold, 39 degrees. Kind of an ugly day. Seems like a good day to stay inside, but we'll see how that goes. I got conned into going to the stores for the after Christmas stuff, so my wife could buy junk we probably won't use and don't need. I'l stick to buying stuff I do want and need online. Hope you all are doing well!

It made it to Georgia this morning as well PW..My bones are aching already. :(

I am always surprised when the weather here gets cold (by which i mean under 65F!) at the steps the locals take to dress appropriately. Knee length shorts and a beanie hat seeming to be the only changes.

If we swapped beanie hat for knotted handkerchief, they could conceivably be English tourists!

And I was worried that I was thought I was getting forgetful. I knew there was another reason!!!!!

I knew it, I knew it, I knew it!!!!!!!!!

Brains of older people are slow because they know so much....By Sarah
Knapton, Science Correspondent

Older people do not decline mentally with age, it just takes them
longer to recall facts because they have more information in their
brains, scientists believe. Much like a computer struggles as the hard
drive gets full up, so to do humans take longer to access information.

Researchers say this slowing down is not the same as cognitive
decline. "The human brain works slower in old age," said Dr. Michael
Ramscar, "but only because we have stored more information over time .
The brains of older people do not get weak. On the contrary, they simply know
more."

Also, older people often go to another room to get something and when
they get there, they stand there wondering what they came for. It is
NOT a memory problem, it is nature's way of making older people do more
exercise.

SO THERE!! We Are All Brilliant!

GOOD MORNING REOVILLE!

i managed 5 days off - though i was supposed to be on call on Friday!

HRH was constantly asking me why i continue to go to bed at the same time and set the alarm clock. Because, then when Monday rears its ugly head, i'm not half dead already from staying up half the night!

Kay - here's one in a similar tone.

hey Lisa i see you down there hows you and Wayne doing ?

HI Scott :)
I'm sorry I hadn't got this far the last time I was catching up. Been super busy....and for the most part, in a good way. Besides the silliness going on with my dad, we've had a lot of good stuff too. Got to see mom and love on her a bit. Been talking a lot with my dad and the angels looking after him. For the first time in 10 years we got to have our eldest son and his family over for Christmas....(and that is a HUGE deal)...and today our younger son is coming up with his family for the first time in 8 years....equally, a HUGE deal! I'm heading down to AZ in January to see my dad again...and to help get him squared away. Just busy with stuff....and for now, taking a load off, kicking the feet up and trying to relax as much as we can. I hope you are doing well, my friend.

Lisa..long time no see..I miss your beautiful posts.
Awesome to see some distant family members after so many years. I need to go back to South Carolina as I haven't been back in 4 years..Way too long for me.

Yep, as a southerner forced to live in New England. I can't wait to get back down south. Born and bred there. People up here listen to country music and think they're all country or something. They haven't got a clue. Not to say they're bad people, they're not. They just haven't experienced what the south is.

Now having said that, all's not great in the south either. Lot's of racism around, god help you if you're an atheist :) Two of the things about the south I could do less with. But! You ever see someone by the road, pull over and we'll share from your cooler and mine. Maybe find a good catfishing spot I hadn't checked out. There's just something about the south. Helps to be tolerant of things I'm not normally tolerant of. Look for the good.

edit: country music up here is whatever is on the top 40 radio stations. No one here has a real chance of listening to good country music.
