Yep, as a southerner forced to live in New England. I can't wait to get back down south. Born and bred there. People up here listen to country music and think they're all country or something. They haven't got a clue. Not to say they're bad people, they're not. They just haven't experienced what the south is.

Now having said that, all's not great in the south either. Lot's of racism around, god help you if you're an atheist :) Two of the things about the south I could do less with. But! You ever see someone by the road, pull over and we'll share from your cooler and mine. Maybe find a good catfishing spot I hadn't checked out. There's just something about the south. Helps to be tolerant of things I'm not normally tolerant of. Look for the good.

edit: country music up here is whatever is on the top 40 radio stations. No one here has a real chance of listening to good country music.

Not so much racism now as was before ... The time's have changed down here and the biggest thing that is annoying are the JV's hammering on the door occasionally. The other denominations still get their booze delivered in taxicabs,..or are so back on the wagon as to just not care. Things are not pushed under the rug with the "good old boy" system as they use to be..but fishing and hunting are still good.
Oh and the country music has changed so much as to be unrecognizable unless you listed to bluegrass like Alison Krauss or bands like Goose Creek Symphony.
The shine is still good..but most make a concoction called Apple Pie..a watered down version.

Lisa..long time no see..I miss your beautiful posts.
Awesome to see some distant family members after so many years. I need to go back to South Carolina as I haven't been back in 4 years..Way too long for me.

Ah ya.....it is so great to reconnect. I'm hoping that will change from here on out. We had a great visit with our younger son and his family today. Seriously...this is the best Christmas in years....I couldn't ask for more. I hope you can get home soon too. :) Its so worth it.

You're so right....I just wish many of us figured that out 20 years earlier....but such is life. As it is...we take every moment we can get. I just wish they could live closer, for many reasons...not just the selfish one. ;) As it is, I'm thankful for every hug, every phone call. .....every minute.

Good morning Reoville! Good morning, Scott and Brett! Scott, that cat thing you have looks great. My 2 cats would love it. Brett, be careful out there. Well, back to work today after a lovely, do-nothing weekend...although I did work some on Friday. Everyone, be safe, be happy, and enjoy another somewhat shorter week this week. :)

Trying to get the housework done and I swear hubs is making messes faster than the grand baby does. Between the holidays and vaca he didn't use earlier in the year he's got 2 weeks off. Maybe I should make him a honeydo list for my sanity and his safety. :)
Why not? Mine does[emoji16] . To tell the truth, I'm better off at work!

I'm a little worried that you knew he was going to be off for that long and didn't have the list ready  You go girl, keep him busy.

Yep, Allison. She did a good album with Robert Plant. I've not been too long from the south and I guarantee you I've got what I consider true country that most have never heard of. Bluegrass is one of the things I've been playing lately and love to play. Fast, articulate and down home :) Now there's the old style of bluegrass and the new style. I consider Peter Rowan the new style. He wrote Panama Red with NRPS covered. Pair Peter up with Toni Rice and you've got some music there.
