Good evening all!

I went to my monthly acoustic jam session last night (second time I've been there.) Being as how I don't do well with strangers it's a scarey thing for me. Had a blast though, and I knew I would. Sometimes we just have to push forward through fear Anyone familiar with the book "Dune" will know what to do with fear :)

Actually played about 4 songs (everyone is in a circle and we go around it giving everyone a chance and then go again and again until all are done doing what they wanted to do.) A new person showed up with an electric guitar and amplifier. That would have been ok but he kept playing over other people. Not even the same song. No regard for what the group was doing. That part was frustrating but I talked to the group leader and she put a stop to it so it all worked out.

So, in the end, it was a great night! Next goal is open mic in a bar playing the blues on my Tele. I'll make it happen.

Hope everyone has a great evening! And Sunday as well. :)

Fleet, that is great. We have a "Circle Jam" that happens in a community here where I live. It was great as there was usually several acoustic guitars, mandolin's, banjo's, Dobro's, and sometimes other instruments. I used to participate but life got in the way and have missed the last several months worth. I really enjoyed them as it was a way to introduce my originals and a few covers to a local audience and got to hear and play some material I normally never would have. I have a friend that would come sit in as well with the electric and he usually played over everyone also. That's too funny... Where you located, other than the dark side of the moon?

Last month when I went there were a nice mix of instruments. Guitars, fiddle, banjo. Neither the fiddle nor the banjo show up this time. Hopefully next month. And without the electric :) The guy was expecting that he'd be at a bar, there would be a house band and he could bang out some lead. Which is fine, I'd enjoy doing that as well. Circle Jams just aren't set up that way.

I live up in New England, cold and snow on the ground. Don't really like it up here and one day I may move back south. Or maybe to Texas :)

So happy today, picked up one of the original OG Mini REOs from debb in the classies......with the orig. hex screw and that gorgeous blue annodizing that came on the early 2011 REOs. I won't photograph til a nice day outside, it's hard to photo this color and do justice to it, that annodizing on those early ones just reflect light in such a neat way.

I will probably send to the Spa for a rebuild, those super thin tubes tend to split / break easily with a lot of use, and if I collapse my spring, that hex screw is so tiny, I do NOT have a tool to get that screw out.

Anyway, this will be a much loved REO for sure.

I hear ya! I have the luxury of a lot of time to play. My friend who I play together with, does not. 3 kids FT job. Hands are full so I understand. Still, I do believe you are right that with judicious time management you could get back into it. It's just how bad do you want it. :)

I was quite a good guitar player and used to give lessons to friends, alas, I have time to practice but my Taylor sits in the corner due to arthritic hands.....I keep her around for others to play when they visit. :) I even put new Elixir strings on last month for finger picking....but I like medium gauge strings better on this particular guitar..

...even sadder, sold my Fender Shenandoah 12 string w/pickup a few years ago, it was from the late 60's early 1970s but I just wans't using it anymore and thought it should go to someone who would really appreciate a good peice of history..

I'm so sorry to hear that. Guitar certainly takes a lot of dexterity, in both hands. I hope the day never comes where something like that interferes with my playing. Well, it already does, I have cubital tunnel syndrome in my right arm which means my pinky and ring finger on my right hand are numb and/or hurt all the time. Need some surgery.... Those two fingers keep falling into the sound hole on my acoustic, it's funny, even if annoying. And it can be fixed pretty easily.

My biggest problem is my back. I can only play while sitting and I still use a strap to aid in weight distribution. Ah, the joys of getting older. Still, I reckon I've got a good number of playing years ahead of me and if something happens, I'll adapt. :)

Fleet - you know the Cubital Tunnel is not going to get better on its own. I know. Another big scar on me. I quit going to doctors because they all find me dissectable instead of irresistible . But looking on the bright side. . . if need be, it will be easy for my family to identify me in the event of my dimise.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday planned. Me? Cut hair Sunday (I give daddy, hubby and son haircuts because they are cheap SOB's) and of course TLC for the reos. I love a clean reo.

Good Morning REOVille. House decorated yesterday, tree will be today. Smoke Alarms are starting to 'chirp' so I guess it's time to swap out 9V batteries in those. And Mamaw is cooking Sunday Breakfast, so all is good here.....

Have a Safe and Blessed Sunday :nun:

So, did she go buy a new tree?

Good morning, Reoville! Went out last night to a Christmas party my wife's boss threw at his place. Lots of people, food, drink. Of course I overdid the food part. I don't like eating that much that late, but it was all good. Many folks just hibernated at the open bar, but some yummy flavored iced tea for me. Not used to going out at night keeping me up past my bedtime. I sound like an old fart, don't I? Well, I'm getting there, and am pretty set in my ways. My brain just shuts down around 9pm, but comes back on about 5am. Hope you all have a beautiful and blessed Sunday!

Today is decorate the tree day, and i have to put the lights on it since HRH is too small to reach.

She is however a modder of some note. She refuses to make her own coils, but last night she took 2 of my grands, did Dibby's brass shim spring mod to both and replaced the tubing in one of them too. All in 20 minutes, with NO swearing!

Amazing.

Methinks she could make her own coils if she wanted to but it tastes better if you do it for her :)
