When I was a kid. Galveston was a great place to live. It wasn't as oriented toward big money. There was a lot to do on the cheap. We used to go down on The Strand a lot. You could drive down the beach the whole length of the island. Texas has a public beach laws, but if you have the money, they will just make sure "your" beach is a long way from a beach access and parking point. Money corrupts everything, I guess.

got sidetracked by pinterest. lol I did love the strand and spent a lot of time there. I worked at the Elissa, and got to sail on her twice which was amazing!! Even though I was 8 months pregnant the first time.

I've heard great things about Galveston...had friends who were deep sea divers who loved resting in Galv. Never been to TX so I have no way to compare. We have tons of waterfront around this area, but you have to be nearly a millionaire to afford living on it. So we live a couple miles from it and are happily satisfied. :D

oh man, I soooooo wanna visit Hawaii some day. Totally an island girl at heart and living in Galveston just didn't cut it! hehehe had some real Kona coffee one time (not the 10% mix in the bags) and it was soooooooo good. Sorry I made ya hungry. I haven't eaten yet and now I'm starvin! lol and I want some coffee. :)

I still have Kona coffee beans shipped to me from the Big Island, others from a friends plantation on Maui.

Island living is different....but I lived on Molokai...so it was rather unique. Not like living on the more populated islands. As a child it was okay...but I pine away after it now that I'm older. Now that we're living in the woods, I don't miss it as much....but when I was living in the city, I rather missed the quiet island lifestyle where everything moved at a snails pace and the worries of the world were non-existent.

Ditto that. I traveled to mostly Oahu on business all of the 80's, had a home on Maui until '94. Couldn't stay at it more than a few weeks before the island became too small and had to go back to the main home stateside. Love the climate, the food, the activities, and especially the native people. I guess I'm not really an island kind of guy even though I am an ocean guy that was an active Marine Biologist nearly 45 years ago.

I've lived a lot of places, but Galveston is the only one I ever miss.

The place I've lived that I miss the most is Carmel, CA, "during the era I lived there". That was from '71 to '76, and while it is still a very special place it's not the same place it was then.

Great friend to have!!

I don't miss Galveston. It had some great stuff, but it was just so dirty. The water and beaches were filthy, the prices for everything went sky high during the season. and yes, it became all about the money. Haven't been there in many years though, probably around 25 years since my dad died.

I do miss one particular restaurant though.....it was owned by a greek family on the strand, but not really a great restaurant, although they did make some wonderful baklava. I loved their fried snapper! Me and a g/f who also worked at the Elissa would go there for lunch sometimes.

 I know, right? Don't get used to it...I'll be crawling back into my hole again soon enough. This is one of those rare weeks where I have some time on my hands. I should be cleaning and organizing and tons of other stuff...but today....I'm working at my desk and taking things easy. :)

Im new to reos, I have three. But two need the upgraded contacts. So im trying to figure out what I need to do it. Or maybe I should just send them to rob to fix. Does any one know how he charges for things like that?

If you can follow the video you can do it. But a lot of people had problems with installing the gaskets on the center post. Robert will let you know in a PM what he charges. it is really worth it to send them to him.

Actually all my bikes were black. And Harley's. There does that restore your faith?

ABSOLUTELY. . .

That's another thing I used to do before vaping. I need to go back there and check out things. It was fun at one time. 8 months pregnant was a good time for me. I road a Harley, saw Alabama in concert and went to see a male strip show. I miss riding.
