Denture cleaner works better on just about everything. It's way less caustic than vinegar or vodka/everclear IMHO.

Truth be told, I tend to use it on all atties, except for when I first get them and want to do the 'silkwood' cleansing of machine oils and such.

what is the silkwood cleansing please?

It's just a reference to a movie of the same name. The lead character worked at a nuclear facility and after an accident had to get a brutal hosing down.

When I get a new atty, I boil it in water and dish soap, rinse, soak it in PGA, and then rinse again.

No problem.

Note that prepping the atty is key. Take all the pieces apart, take out the post screws (clean them, too), and I try to remove the o-rings (moot point with a RM2) as I've had them sometimes react badly (mostly swell).

Definitely dont remove the positive contact there is no reason to do so . No need to remove the delrin insert unless your rebuilding the mod

What if there is some minor evidence of arcing on the positive pin? I ran one of my Mini LPs with SO contacts for at least 6 months with practically no maintenance as performance was always stellar. Just checked my new Grand and there is some gold plating missing from the positive pin. Planning on ordering some Deoxit here soon.
