Note that prepping the atty is key. Take all the pieces apart, take out the post screws (clean them, too), and I try to remove the o-rings (moot point with a RM2) as I've had them sometimes react badly (mostly swell).
What if there is some minor evidence of arcing on the positive pin? I ran one of my Mini LPs with SO contacts for at least 6 months with practically no maintenance as performance was always stellar. Just checked my new Grand and there is some gold plating missing from the positive pin. Planning on ordering some Deoxit here soon.
