I'm not Penny, but you'll want to clear coat once you're happy with your results.
If you're not happy, you can just use some rubbing alcohol to remove the ink you applied. It's permanent with clear and temporary without so you don't have the permanence of a patina where you have to sand it off.

B2L I think has a Van Halen guitar paint job on his Reo. It looks schweeeet btw where is he he should be all over this thread.

I'm going to clear coat mine but haven't done it yet. I need to buy some coating. Looking forward to seeing your door Mamabird!

I'm going to try to get my VV Grand modded into a mechanical and have the catch cup milled down, if it can be done I'm thinking about a full body paint job for it. Once I hear back from Rob on the modding idea and if I'm given the green light for that I'm going to start brainstorming. If anyone has any ideas they've come across that caught your fancy as far as paint, stenciling or what have you please share.
So I took a stab at this today. I had already taken my door down to the aluminum and had brushed it too. I mixed black and white alcohol ink on a foam applicator stamp. I am trying to get closer to the color of my drip tip, kinda greyish white. I applied a lot of white but the nlack comes through pretty strong. I think Ill give it another try tomorrow.

I took it back to brushed shortly after. I screwed up the next try and used up my last applicator pad. What did you do to get the effect above. Thats is pretty slick. I was thinking of cutting up a sponge and seeing what that does.
I bet a sponge would work instead. Should be cheaper too. On the pic above I just used copper and silver glitter mixed with some clear nail polish. How did you brush your door? Sandpaper?
methinks i may need to hire someone to do this for me. i can't even draw stick figures.
I never would have guessed scotch brite pads! Perfect finish too! Ok, adding that to my arsenal of ideas. 
I'd love to see that one. I've thought about ordering a door and trying an EVH paint job on it, would love to hear how he did it!
