Russ I know exactly what you're feeling. I haven't been anywhere for 2 years. I rarely leave the house at all. My wife had left for as long as a month at a time. Unfortunately I was fine with because there was no pressure for me to go anywhere. I have been suffering with GAD and depression for over 10 years.

I missed my granddaughter's HS graduation last year because I just couldn't leave the house. I used to drive to Virginia and visit a couple of times a year.

We used to take vacations at the beach and go on cruises, lots of things. I hope to figure out how to get the courage to do something like you've done. At this point I'm not even sure where to start.

Congratulations to you. I know what a big step it is and how important it is to you and your family.

I had to look up what GAD was and ran across this article. Tim, you probably have already done the research but wanted to let you know that you will figure this out and you do have the courage to overcome this hurdle. I'm pretty darn sure I can speak for all the great people here in Reoville, that we are here for you.

Blue, brother, it pains me to hear that others feel like I do. But I let this happen to me by not facing it years ago. I just started (yesterday) to sedate myself with Valium and it is like a miracle. I'm still anxious but subdued. I couldn't have done this without my family, lots of reading, and the Valium. It was like a miracle, but as it wears down I feel the anxiety creeping back. Just distracting myself helps a bunch. I tell myself that with my family I'm gonna be fine and pop another Valium :)

My heart goes out to you my man and I'm very glad you shared that with us. I don't feel so alone. Thank you.

My mother struggled with panic attacks for years, I too get anxious in crowds don't like being around a lot of people. I rarely ever drink but always enjoy some nice cold beverages at the beach. Just don't have too many and go streaking down the beach. I'd say you are doing the best thing for yourself and your family by being there. You got to bite the dog that bit you. Enjoy my friend, life is too short!

Hey Russ. It is very brave of you to discuss this in public, and it is very brave of you to confront your fears head on. It will only get better from here. Now that you have gone on this trip, what else can you do? The possibilities are endless.

I know very little about GAD, but have a couple of friends who have suffered from it to varying degrees for some greater part of their adult lives. Since you have identified what is up with you, tackling the problem at your own pace is more than a possibility - it's your reality.

You know that we all have mad love for you here. You have single-handedly improved the vaping experience for more people than you can imagine, my self of course, included. By doing so, you have helped keep all those people off of analogs to the point where it works so well based on your legwork that we simply don't look back. I had a bunch of down time at work this morning and did a full clean and re-coil on both of my Grands, and while I was using my little DarkZero jig, I recalled the first time I did a micro coil based on your video. A lot of the other coil building videos out there seemed to infer that there was some magical touch to getting a great coil and amazing vape. Yours was totally different. You were basically like, "If I can do it, you can do it" and the result is better than anything else I have ever come across. Maybe something better will come along some day, but I wouldn't be surprised if you came up with it.

Hang in there, homie, and congratulations on taking this first step. Say "hi" to Val and his friend. I haven't hung out with them since forever.

Enjoy the trip, your family, and your new freedom!

Awesome Russ. Phobias are not rational even a little bit. Congratulations on the milestone and I wish you luck for the future.

Rock on!

Ken

Edit I suffer from a mild case of claustrophobia and have gotten panic attacks when surrounded by too many people with no visible means of escape, but I hesitate to even mention it because it's controllable and also pretty easily avoided generally and when I can't avoid it, I can control it for 10-15 minutes.... so it takes very specific conditions for me to panic anymore. I just mention it because I do understand the panic and anxiety feeling and know how hard this step was for you. Congratz again.

Russ that is so awesome in so many ways! I'm stoked for you and your family.....

(I had a bout w/ a disorder that required meds and I fought it for a long time, for the same reason. Finally I gave them a try, there was some trial and error, and I finally got to where I need to be. My family had a lot to do with it as well. Now they and I are much happier.)

Anyway that sure looks like a nice spot! I couldn't be happier for you and your family! ENJOY!

I've only been in Reoville a few months now, wasn't smart enough to get here sooner! But I wanted to make certain I got my chance to thank you for all you do for us also. Your videos and such are a huge asseset to us all. I know what a help you have been to me alone. With the guidance of your video I got my new contacts in. It's a refreshing change to watch someone with your know how and ability demonstrate with such humility. It was very brave of you to share your story! Enjoy your vacation and have a wonderful time with your family. And thank you again.
