Repair 901 PT

Hi,

First off, I'm not very handy or a modder.

But my 901 USB PT broke (second one). This one frayed at the point where the wires enter via the cap on the end.

Seems there are just two wires. If I can get the cap off, I can probably just reconnect and tape if necessary, correct?

And how do I get the darn cap off? I've pried and pried and nothing.

you should probably solder and heatshrink the broken wire....

and as for the "cap", i assume you mean the end of barrel when the led light comes from?? if so on my model i can pry it off with a tiny screwdriver

Ok, thank you. I'll keep trying to pry it off then. Maybe it's just on there really tightly.

Well, I don't have a soldering iron or heat shrink tubing. It's probably cheaper to buy a new one and less frustrating for someone who is not handy.

Maybe I will try using electrical tape on the new on at the join there on the new one. There seems to be a lot of stress on that part because it is just two very thin wires with a small amount of tubing over them. I have to use an USB "extension cord" because the length of tubing it comes with isn't long enough. So maybe the weight of that extension cord is causing too much stress at that juncture and causing it to break. The tape I figure will give it some support.
