PT question

Hello,

I am new to modding and will probably bug you guys to death as I attempt my 1st mod. This question in particular doesn`t deal with that yet. I have a 510 PT that isn`t working. I took the cover off and put a meter on this "in" side, and I`m reading 5v. It is a 3.7 PT, and out the battery "out" side I am getting no voltage. Could I cut off teh battery and hard wire it and have a 5v PT?

This just seems too simple and probably not correct. I have been reading, reading, and reading before attempting any modding, but I`m either not looking in the right place, or there isn`t a lot of information on PTs.

TIA,
Bob

I haven't done exactly what you're asking, but I did make a mod out of a USB plug & plugged it with a cable. It worked great.

Ahhhhh...........thank you

What Willy is saying is that most all adapters for USB don't push the amperage needed. The reason you PS worked before was because of the battery and the cord just kept it charged so to speak. Your computer only puts out .5amps when you need around 2amps... so I would go with Willy's idea on the AC to DC wall adapter, although I wouldn't order fro china like the link he posted, I would try and find one that is 5volts 2amp exactly that is in the U.S. The wall plug can have any adapter on it because you will just end up cutting it off anyway to hard wire it to your PS. Be careful and good luck.
