Some of the older vapor users are not born into computers... Thus navigating crazy things like the internet can be difficult... Im still attempting to teach my mother how to google search...

They have to learn somewhere and it's best to learn as early as possible. Personally, I always learn new stuff over the internet by way of trial and error. If you get into the same habits constantly you let yourself fall behind anyway.
I remember including instructions on how to find additional information in the forums in some of my earlier responses. (search etc.). Teach as we go when answering questions.
(I do that when I'm playing WOW too. I try to answer the question and then I provide the source of my information and how to get to it. After that, I don't feel compelled to answer any more questions unless they are particularly complicated.)

Perhaps if the search bar were at the top of the page rather than hidden on the far left bottom of the page....
It's just the nature of the beast. Many of us did similar things when we were new. Most new users are overwhelmed by the information here, and that leads to frustration.
Questions will never end. I have a few notebook files on my desktop with the popular help links. If I'm not in a particularly talkative mood, I'll just post the links.
The people you take time with to help will usually be the ones to come back and help others.

But there is so much other crap surrounding it, that it is easy to miss. Being such a valuable tool, it should be somewhere that just jumps out at you.

I'm thinking about doing this Jim. I really want to help people but at the same time I want to strangle some when they ask a question I JUST answered 2 threads down.

This is why I [/quit] the trade channel and general channels. After a week or so of trying to be helpful you begin to realize that people just want someone to do the work for them.

Yes that's the gist of it with me, it's not that I hate questions, that's not it at all. What I hate is that people are too lazy to do the research themselves. Prophy made an excellent point when he stated that you can often find the answer to your question and get an education on other things that you had no idea about in the process as well. I have found answers to questions I hadn't even thought to ask yet, lol!
I would love someone to post search results for "510" or "buying 510", or "whats the best.." and group them by date so we could actually see right in front of us the numbers I bet it would be crazy! It's all good though, those of us that hang around will continue to help, and we will continue to do facepalms when we see the 10,000th post asking which is better the 510 or the m401, and of course we will continue to shake our head, mutter under our breath that people should learn to use the search function, and give them the answer in a post chock full of information that 20 other people have also given. Once in a while one of us will ask why don't people use the search function and the cycle of life is complete.

Yes, some are just plain lazy, but there are many new members who simply don't understand computers, and how search functions work.
I have converted a lot of smokers to vaping, and some don't even own a computer. I deal with them on the phone. Some only know how to send e-mails.
Yeah but come on let's be real here. If you speak English the word "search" is pretty self explanatory is it not? It boils down to people being to lazy to do the search themselves. As I stated before, more often than not the very question that is being asked is answered on the same page the thread was started on, if only they had bothered to look before asking.
That is the heart of this post, it's not that I think the questions are stupid or anything. It's the fact that the answers are right in front of them all they have to do is open their eyes. Coming in here and just asking "what E-cig should I get" is not putting much effort into your own research. I don't know about you guy's but I throw nickels around like they weigh as much as manhole covers and the thought of throwing $40-$60 away on something is enough to make me do the research before I spend a dime.
I would suggest putting together a noob guide something like the one I posted earlier that can be found here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...discussion/39777-noob-e-cig-buying-guide.html and force all new members to read it prior to being allowed to post. A forced announcement or something. I imagine that proactive step would eliminate a lot of the repeat questions. I am not saying that MY GUIDE be used but something to that effect listing the things to look for and the characteristics of each model addressing such things as the nasty taste of 510 atomizers when shipped and breaking them in, things like that which are asked and answered 1000 times a day.

Evidently not, he has punished me for years over that stupid thing! If you feel that my post was directed at you, you are mistaken. It wasn't directed at any particular person ladyraj. Sure, people make mistakes and can overlook things I get it, I make mistakes myself everyday.

It doesn't take a Harvard education to navigate a web site and look for information. The point of these post is to educate not belittle or point fingers at specific people. If you can't see what is so aggravating about the practice of just asking questions without bothering to look for the answer yourself I doubt anything I say at this point will help. I certainly don't think it's elitist to ask people to think for themselves a little before asking questions. Snarky, I'm not taking it personally. I mean really what kind of a response did you think you would get asking such questions? On one hand we proclaim on this forum there is no such thing as a dumb question...and we all help to advise the new people. On the other hand we have people that tire of the repetition after they have reaped the benefits of their first venture into this forum and want to cry foul. Is it too hard to bypass the threads that bother you so? I'll give you a hint...don't respond to anything about the 510 or what should I buy queries. Is that too much to ask of you? Or shall we "enlighten" all by telling them to do their research first and quit being so lazy? 8-o
I, personally, don't mind giving answers to already asked questions. I don't really see any harm in it.
I am not a big religious nut or anything but who ever you are I would be looking out for lighting or something and take sun block with you
.
Maybe someone who is a video talent, should make a lots of videos showing how to do everything for each electronic cig. I have watched quite a few and they helped me.
