Thanks. Yes, my question was regarding the actual wick/coil assembly. I was trying to remove the perforated metal cover from the coil assembly to replace the coils/wicks with DIY material. Two pair of pliers will not do it. Maybe they have found a way to eliminate DIY replacement.

Even on the old ones that didn't have the metal sleeve, nobody seems to be rebuilding them. The conclusion I think is it simply isn't worth the effort - you'd need to faff around with attaching nonresistant wire, and it's an awkward build anyway if you're going for both coils (and if you aren't, there are probably more suitable tanks to focus your effort on).
