The gasket is not compressed. It doesnt even show wear marks. I will try the paper trick. I had to order small scissors off amazon. They will be here tomorrow.

I had a problem recently with a Lemo tank. Not leaking, it was losing electrical connection to the coil. I eventually tracked it down to a washer type gasket in the base. It looked fine but it must have got compressed over the years and the metal piece it supported wasn't sticking up as far as it should have been. I put a spacer under it which fixed the problem.

I had a bag of those 1/16" spacers you put between the tank and the mod. It would be a more durable fix than paper. They are hard to cut though. You can buy them in any size. If the paper works then maybe you could get some of those spacers as a permanent solution.

I'm not sure I understand what your talking about when you say spacer type washers.

You don't need small scissors, just any will do. All you're doing is making a disc with a hole in the center. Fold the paper in half so all you're cutting is a semi-circle. It's easier and faster that way. Unfold the semi-circle and you got a circle.

I'm busy today with my new aquarium to mess with this stupid tank.

Nice. That looks like a lotta fun to me. Enjoy!

If all else fails... you could always use the messed up tank as an in aquarium decoration. The fish might like it.

My suggestion to use paper was not as a permanent solution, rather as a path to diagnosis and it's thinner than anything that is plastic so you can make more than one to see the proper thickness you need. You don't want something too thick as that could be another problem. Everybody has paper readily available.

The mere sight of one can Many Times get some Cranky Tank or Petulant RTA back on the Straight and Narrow.
But prolly not near as well as ordering the replacement. You'll notice a vast improvement as soon as the payment clears...
