replacing atomizer wicks

Hi, I've just bought a joyetech eroll, and I've just read that it will perform better with a stainless steel wick.

Can someone tell me what sort of an effect changing the wick has?

I just had some done for me. I was told it won't really make big difference in how it vapes but it extends the life of the atty re wicking, cleaning. It worked just as good as ever and if I didn't use a different color tank for them I wouldn't be able to tell. But mayb e that's because I was told already
