Replacing wick and coil

Hi all,
I am using a Ego T 1100 with a SmokTech GBC 3ML bottom coil tank, coil is currently 1.9 ohm

I am wanting to be able to replace the wick and wire myself. And also want to use cotton for the wick.

What would I need to do this with? And what are the difference in the different Ohm sizes? Please be as specific as possible.

Thanks so much!! You all are great :)

You are using beginner devices that are not rebuildable. Although it may be possible to disassemble the coil heads and put your own wick and wire in there, this would probably not be a simple task, especially for someone who is new to vaping.

Your best option, if you don't want to upgrade to an rba, is to purchase smoktech coil heads made for the device.

Try this first:
Soak in 91% Isopropyl alcohol or everclear over night or until I get 5-6 to clean.
Rinse throughly with warm tap water forcing water into the wick area.
Towel dry and blow out any water.
Mount the head on a tank base.
Remove the gasket and stem.
Remove the flavor wick(s).
Mount the tank base with the atomizer head on your PV.
Dry burn 6 watts, 5 seconds on/off. Repeat until coils are all turning red and wick is clean.
Blow the burned off crud away.

Hold the flavor wick with tweezer while burning them with a lighter or torch until wick is clean.
-Place the flavor wick back on top of the coil.
Or
-Replace the flavor wick with the material of your choice.

Reinstall the stem and gasket.

If you disassemble the tank and then unscrew the atomizer head (rinse off the liquid), you can see what you have. I'd bet it's similar to a Protank head, in which case, it can be rebuilt, but it's not something I would call 'simple' to do.

You could search for a video on "Protank rebuild" or "Kanger (atomizer) head rebuild" you'll get the idea. :)

As djsvapour mentioned these are the same type of coils that are used in the kanger tanks and they are simple to rebuild. Their are plenty of posts on this forum on how to do this and some good you tube videos.

Here is a you tube video from rip tripper which will show you the easiest way to do it

As I remember the GBC I believe that it takes a Kanger T3 coil unit. I have not used mine for quite some time so I can't be sure, but I think that when I tried a PT head, it didn't quite work, but the T3 did. At any rate, they are very similar and you rebuild them the same way. Google how to clean and dry burn a Pro-Tank head and you will have the basics.

thanks so much, I did the "burn clean" seemed to help a lot of the most of them, but some definitely need to be replaced. I watched the you tube videos, seems to be pretty easy. And I also saw that Fast Tech has some pre wired wicks. But, that brings another question....what size wire and ohm size to get??? Mine have a 1.9 ohm in them, not sure what gauge and don't know if I should keep the same ohm or is it ok to go up any??
