Hi,

I'm a reporter at The Record in Bergen County, NJ. I got your address from
the e-cigarette forum. I'm working on a story about electronic cigarettes
because the borough of Paramus is considering banning them indoors, and I'm
looking for e-cigarette smokers in Bergen, Morris or Passaic county who
would be willing to talk with me about their experiences.

Please contact me if you are interested. My number is 201-937-5518. Feel
free to pass around my contact information to anyone in your group who might
want to talk with me. We are probably going to run the story in the next
week or so, though, so it would be best if you could get in touch with me as
soon as possible. Thanks!

Stephanie,
A good person to talk to is Dr. Michael Siegel. His blog is filled with entries supporting the electronic cigarette from an anti-smoker's perspective. Dr. Siegel is a medical doctor who is now a professor of public health at Boston University.

Here is a link to the article in question:
northjersey.com/news/Health_board_wants_to_stamp_out_e-cigs.html

I don't have 15 posts yet so I can't directly link to external sites.

NorthJersey.com: Health board wants to stamp out e-cigs

The cigarette usually consists of a white or colored cylindrical tube with a brown filter and a red, glowing tip. The user inhales through a mouthpiece which triggers a sensor that switches on a small battery-powered heater. The heater then vaporizes the liquid nicotine and propylene glycol, which produces mist. The user inhales the nicotine vapor into the lungs and when the user exhales, the excess cigarette-like "smoke" vapor from the propylene glycol is then emitted from the end of the cigarette.

"My board is very concerned about potential health risks," Hopper said.

If the ordinance is passed, Hopper said, those who violate the law would be subject to fines. Businesses that don’t practice the law can be fined as well.

Karen Blumfeld, executive director of New Jersey Global Advisors of Smoke Free Policy, said diethylene glycol is an ingredient in e-cigarettes that raises a red flag. She says the ingredient is used in anti-freeze and can trigger asthma.

Stupid people! Can't they see that these are 2 different things? One is propylene glycol, the poisonous one is Diethylene Gglycol

Where are you coming from in NJ? Anyone else you know that is coming? If any one needs a ride between Manalapan, and Paramus let me know, PM me, or if anyone wants to car pool.

I won't be able to make it...I recently read this post and won't be able to take off work. Please post and let us know how it goes!!! ><
