Gold/gold Reo Mini, en route. TOMORROW!

This is so weird. This is the most excited I've been since I vaped for the first time and discovered that I had found a new, better way of life. Actually even more excited than that! With your help I've found something which will add a new dimension; I know right now how this will fill a niche I've needed to fill. I have viewed e-cigarettes as tools, and while I do value the investment I've made in the other fabulous mods I posess I think (I know!) my Mini will stand alone in regards to beauty and functionality. I feel very fortunate.

You sure look ready to me! The hardest thing when you get it is deciding which juice you want for your first fill! Takes only a couple of minutes till you are off and vaping.
You might want to lower your nic a little that first day. I have made myself sick before from chain vaping a new REO!

Yeah, I know! I like and have a LOT of juices - I constantly switch because I love 'em all - and this is one of the main niches my Reo will fill - I have my utility mods with tanks etc. for when I don't have the time for really thinking about enjoyment, you know, but when you want to savor the juice, the temperature and the vapor nothing beats dripping but that's SUCH a PIA.
I'm glad you brought that up because now I can think about what I want to put in there first, that hadn't crossed my mind.

Yup squonking the reo is such a user friendly feature :)

I am amazed when I think about how simple and straight forward the whole desing of it is, but its still one of the best looking mods available. The mini is such a workhorse and yet its so portable.....I am speachless most times when I try to describe how much I love my mini.

Rob is my hero :)

So here I am sitting in a Starbucks with my Mini, savoring my favorite Banana juice along with a free venti Cafe Mocha. My mini and I are getting along splendidly, the performance and ease of use is fantastic. There are just a couple things that're taking time for me to get used to/figure out.

I don't quite get the feel of how hard I need to depress the firing button. I tend to mash it in further than I know I have to because there is no positive feedback on when to stop since the switch, battery and battery spring are all one unit. This overmashing kind of irritates my mashing digit since the edges of the switch are rather sharp. I'm sure that given time I'll get the feel of when contact is made.

As far as mashing digits go, I can't decide yet which one is best, my thumb or my forefinger. I feel most comfortable using my thumb with my pinky wrapped under the unit, but most of the time when I grab it my forefinger naturally lands on the top - more natural, but less comfortable.

What to you veteran Reonauts use, and why?

But those two things are minor quibbles compared to the beautiful experience that Reo ownership is.

When I first whipped it out in front of my non-smoking, non-vaping wife I said "Look at my new jewelry." Of course she asked "How much did it cost?" and I told her, and she kind of gave me that look. She said "What does it do that's different?" so I told her that too, and eventually she said "It's all for your health, that's what matters."

Whew. Thank God there's always THAT justification.

Try holding the REO next to your ear, and depress the button just a little, you will hear when the atty/carto fires. It really won't take you long to get used to just pressing down a little, you don't need to mash it. That will make a big difference in the way your mashing digit feels, trust me, we have all done this! I like to hold mine so as my thumb does the mashing, it is just more comfortable and seems more natural to me.

LOL! I know exactly where you're coming from and lucky for me she said the same thing your wife said. A few weeks after I got my Mini, I kept looking at a black/gold Grand that didn't sell after a few days and I wanted it so bad. After 3 days of not selling I ordered it, but didn't immediately tell the wife. Each day of waiting for it was really agonizing ... what am I going to tell her? Well, the day before I knew it was going to arrive, I sheepishly told her and to my surprise, she accepted it extremely well. The "justification" came from her ... Thank God. I guess she wants me around for a while. Why? Beats me!

I use both the thumb and forefinger, depending on how I pick up my mod. I'm not terribly finicky about either....just whatever is comfortable at the moment. I too, was a button masher in the beginning and trained myself to stop by listening to the atty fire. When I am focused though, I am a "gripper"....meaning that I hold my minis as if someone were trying to pry them out of my hands. Don't know why *shrug* but I'm glad I'm not mashing the button anymore!

Just FYI, snork, there's an easy (and cheap) mod to the switch that I use on my mini, but for some reason, I don't need it on the grand. It's the REO switch mod, but if you consciously ease off on the button, pretty soon you'll adjust to the correct "touch". Maybe that'll help :)
Thanks! Obviously I should have known that any questions I have would probably be answered by a simple forum search, but sometimes it's better to ask and have the opportunity to converse with new friends.

I saw the switch mod a few weeks ago and initially thought it was a great idea. However, sometimes I carry my Reo in my shirt or pants pocket and I thought it just might unknowingly turn to the unlocked position. It wouldn't be difficult to make it happen. The larger button gives it a mechanical advantage and the rubber material on cloth grips better than a smooth metal surface. I even thought about making a batch out of polished black anodized aluminum, but then there's liability insurance to content with if I sell them, but the cost would be prohibitive due to the insurance. If one of them caused a batt to explode from excessive high drain, then someone could really get hurt. The small button Rob puts on his Reos is well engineered to prevent accidental turning, which greatly adds to it's safety IMO.

Ted, I understand your concern, but the button mod doesn't extend past the vertical planes of the REO, and the horizontal plane is protected by the overflow well and atty. I've been using a version of it since March and haven't accidently turned the button or fired the Mini. Of course, I usually toss mine in a purse pocket or a shirt pocket.

IMO I would say you may be playing with fire. But, I'm nobody important. So, maybe we should ask the guy that builds the Reos, "Would you endorse the button mod or a facsimile of it, and why?" What say you Rob?
