My boyfriend is a social smoker, and has noticed that after not smoking for a while and then going out with friends he feels sick after the first cigarets. So we thought that an electronic cigarette is a good substitute, especially with a 0 nicotine juice.
So I started researching and we decided on a 510 model because he feels he wants it to look as close to the analog one as possible. He might change his mind later but for now it will do.
From my research I understood that we need:
batteries - I thought one manual and one automatic so he can decide which one he likes best ( i have read that automatic ones have more problems, but he will see)
Cartomizer/ automizer + cartrige - I tried finding a starter kit with cartomizers but no luck, that is why am thinking buying separate parts it might be better.
juice - this is the biggest problem I think, from what I have seen VG is more healthy but needs to be diluted, PG has more flavor. Is there a preferred combination, and any vendor that sells them ready to use? I wanted to order everything from one place (mostly to save shipping charges) but it seems I will have to split the order.
Battery charger - I think we need both wall and usb but not sure
passthrough, pcc- do we need them?

Feel free to eliminate some of these confusions that I have :). And some vendors suggestions would be nice, the vendor thread has latest data from 2010.
Thanks!

No kidding, to me, Kr808D-1 is a lot better than a 510. Especially these newer ones. Halo g6/bloog/volt, they're some of the best cartomisers and batteries on the market for 808's.

If you're just after a cig lookalike that you want to perform like a cig, the automatic 808s with cartomisers are what you need. Much more portable than a 510, batteries are still not great as they are cig size but these 808 ones are better than the same size 510 ones as they're ever so slightly thicker (still about the same size as a superking however). Looks like a superking, little heavier than a cig but automatic so you just suck on it like a real cig. Really robust for automatic batteries too. I've had mine for a few months and none of my volt batteries have gone off to anything but me using them.

Use the code 'heatwave' for 23% off the volt stuff if it's still active. No idea if it is though.

You don't need to dilute vg if it's in a cartomiser.

Passthrough, not needed.

Why is vg more healthy? PG is a germacide, probably better for you, and it's been shown to cause pretty much no harm to your body by inhalation whereas vg is a big fat question mark that's not been studied much. As for ratios, most use about 30/70 pg/vg or vg/pg whichever they prefer. I'm intolerant to pg, so I use vg only.

Pcc, if it's a 510/808 small size, you'll probably want one if you never want a bigger battery. They will only last 2 - 3 hours of continual use. Enough if you don't 'smoke' a lot however just to take 2 or 3 with you and go a whole night.

Joye 510 is fine. If you use the white batteries with red/orange LED and get the tan Boge standard resistance cartos at NiteLiteVapor it will look like a Marlboro

Don't just buy one atomizer. Atomizers are needed to test juices (and on the manual battery you can use a drip tip) and they are needed for vaping juices that are too thick for cartos.

I recommend Joye brand only, standard 510 manual. Check Liberty-Flights.com and press the 20% off upper left front page to lower the shown prices. Then look at normal 510 (not 510 T - its charger can damage other 510 batteries). You could even ask the owner if he would substitute one auto battery into a manual kit for you.

You could also check the price at LiteCigUSA.net

0 nic juice has no throat hit. That may not satisfy him. Experiment with some of the Chinese PG juices so you can use them in cartomizer (thick VG juices are difficult to use in cartomizers and BTW PG is what hospitals vaporize for inhalation therapy, even for lung transplant patients according to a thoracic surgeon. PG is also what concert fog is). At LiteCigUSA.net maybe try Dekang PG USA mix and USA mix Reds? And maybe DK-TAB (Turkish American blend). In one buy 6mg. In the others buy 0mg. Then if 0mg does nothing for him with its zero throat hit, then mix 50/50 with the 6mg juice and try that.

Sorry, it's just a matter of opinion and personal taste. I've tried both and for a mini, I prefer a 510.

Lol yeah I think we'll forever disagree on 510 vs 808 for minis XD

I'm biased to autos because I have bigger pvs that are all manual so having an auto is handy sometimes and I wouldn't trust a 510 auto to be as robust as the 808 autos.

Eh, as long as they know 510 isn't the only option out there, no harm done.

You don't really need a passthrough but they are pretty handy and convenient when you are watching TV or working at your PC because they don't drain your batteries. If you get a PT, be sure you get a USB wall adapter rated at 2 amps. You don't want to plug it into your PC because of the risk of damage to your PC.

As for a PCC, that would be a good investment especially for when you are away from home because the 510 batt is only good for 1 -2 hours depending on how much you vape. With the PCC you always have a freshly charged battery ready to go when the one you are using dies. Then you just swap out the batteries and the dead one is charging while your vaping away. They are a must have when you are away from home.

510 kits from cignot.com let you customize each of the two batteries in the kit from what they have (manual/auto, body color, led color), so you don't have to ask for a substitute.

I already ordered and got my order. But, it seems the cartomizers don't fit with the manual batteries. They fit perfectly with a mega automatic battery but there us a space between the cartomizer and the manual standard battery. Is this normal?

May just be a variance in the manual battery center post. I'm guessing it will fire the carto but just has a space? Madvapes sells so many different products from different manufacturers, sometimes you may stumble on a combination that doesn't quite fit each other. If it were me I would take something and press down on the center post of the battery, and try to get it to push in a little. Or continue screwing the battery in forcing it to push the post down. Disclaimer: this could break the battery. If it works and you don't want to risk breaking it, it won't hurt anything to use it as is.
