Great! Now I have to figure out how to do the same for my wife. She still refuses to go with me when I go to any of the local vape shops. She will eventually, just not yet... Need to get sneaky, I guess.

My favorite trick is to tell my husband he can stay in the car while I shop, leave my phone in the car, go into the shop, run out and say "Can you look at this with me?" (never specify what "this" could be) and run back into the store without waiting for an answer. Usually he'll be inside the store within three minutes. You can't use that trick all the time or it'll stop working, but it's fairly reliable as I can get him into a yarn store every couple of weeks.

Any recommendations on brand? I've been trying to hunt down a Dr. Pepper or RC flavor and any cherry that doesn't taste like kids' nyquil.

Hmmm... The Vapor Room has Classic Cola that reminds me of either RC or Pepsi. It's definitely not a Coke flavor - doesn't have that pepper "bite" to it that Coke has.

They also have a Sweet Cherry - no idea on that one - haven't tried it.

No Dr. Pepper in the flavor list.

If you follow my "how to" post here about first time orders you could try out 7 TVR flavors this weekend for only $18.00 - they are offering New Year's free shipping through Sunday. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo.../584061-recommend-vendor-me.html#post13698186

Congratulations on the success, stepping stones is what I referred to those last few cigs back then. I kept the faith that I'd quit cigs completely and eventually I was reaching for the PV rather then the pack, never looked back after that.

The best part about switching to vaping is you aren't allowed to over-think the process. There are no rules... so you get to make up your own about how this plays out. I took 3 months to completely lose a 30 year 2 PAD habit - I didn't see a problem with that. (However the ACS quit smoking rules imply - strongly - you are a total loser after the very first cigarette.) With vaping everyone here gets to make up their own end game.

Maybe one rule: You gotta wanna quit. Everything else will sort itself out from there on an individual basis. But vaping isn't a magic wand either - you have to want to quit smoking.

Congratulations and amen. I think that rule is flexible on the surface but holds true when you dig a little deeper. If I think about doing another quit, that actually makes me want to smoke but when I make smoking as much as a pain in the *ss for myself as possible and make vaping nice and comfy then not smoking is like a game I can always win. What I'm saying is that I'm able to quit, but only if I lie to myself and tell myself that quitting isn't the point, and then stack the deck so that the self reinforcing behavior that I want (vaping) is way more self reinforcing than smoking (even more so since it's winter, because it's freakin' cold out-- anyone that goes outside for a smoke in this weather is crazy.)

Right now, for me, the sticky spot is when I wake up. I take my Strattera (for ADHD) at 9 am and it's not working as well since my nicotine intake is waaaay down and I have about an hour and a half between waking up and taking my medication. I'm going to try exercising for an extra half hour a day and see if that helps, if not I'll have to see my doctor and talk about getting a higher dosage of the Strattera. This time I'm breezing through the quit because my husband is hardly smoking at all at home (he probably has one cig before I wake up.) It makes one wonder though how many people are accidentally treating ADHD that was undiagnosed or misdiagnosed with nicotine and then end up not quitting because they feel weird and easily distracted and have less impulse control when they give up the smokes?

I will be so stoked if my husband, on his own gives up smoking 100%-- I'm just so pleased with his not chain smoking right now.

I can say that it took will power still, there is no magic bullet fix to stop smoking this much is true. As I tell most young folks that inquire about start vaping instead of smoking I urge to start neither in truth if they can stay away from it in total then that is far better. If they are going to without listing to me then I push vaping over smoking for sure.

I though would miss the amazing community of people that I've found and many good friends I've made thus far had I not gone to vaping. This is one amazing community of people blinded together for a singular cause of finding a health alternative and increasing one's lifespan by leaps and bounds.

Thank you everyone at ECF and various other places that have helped me be smoke free, wishing everyone a wonderful 2015 New Year.

You may want to consider being a dual user - err... dual nic level user. I had to do that for about the first four months, the mornings were a big cravings problem. So it was the next higher nic level for the first couple hours of the day and then dropping to my regular nic level. Then I had a problem before bed time usually, so it was back up to the higher nic level most days for an hour or two late at night. One of the best things we have in our corner is all the flexibility - use as needed.

Lol - you got the gist of the "other stuff". You make vaping easy - you make smoking not so easy. Your PV belongs on the night stand so It's the first option when you wake up, the pack of butts belongs on the top shelf of an inconvenient place. Make yourself get up and get a cigarette if you really want one. For me it was the hall linen closet. It doesn't take much to get over/past a cigarette craving most of the time if you have to get up and go get one. A little physical separation from your pack of butts - get them out of your shirt pocket and off the computer desk - goes a long way.

That's a possibility too. I'm hoping that it'll all smooth over over the next week or two on it's own, but if not I'll look into getting a higher nic content juice or maybe try wearing a low dosage patch in the morning. It's not the smoke I miss, it's the clarity and ability to make a plan. This morning wasn't as bad as yesterday morning (when I punched a chair) so I'm hopeful.

Don't be afraid of it - you are allowed your quit smoking experiments. It takes a lot more for us decades long smokers to get past something that has been with us so long - and is addictive as well - than a simple "...pick a quit date!" solution. Besides, you can work on working out a plan - of scheduling your daily nic level changes. :p (Probably not helping here...)

Seriously - give yourself permission to play. Change your nic level as needed. Many people find that even a flavor change is enough of a distraction to get past a craving fit. Buy that shiny new thing. Don't know about where you live, but around here the going rate for a pack of butts is now averaging over $10.00. There are a lot of vape related distractions I could buy for the cost of a couple days of smoking.

I did that for quite a while, several months at least, 11-12mg for the first hour, then back to my 9-10mg once I was "over the hump." Then after awhile it just didn't seem necessary; I just vape 11ish mg all the time -- after not-smoking became as natural to me as smoking had once been.

I made it very clear to my husband very early on, that I had to make vaping wayyyyyyyyy easier at all times, than smoking, which is why I needed multiple mods, tanks, batteries, and a veritable army of driptips, plus at least several different choices of ejuice, though that last is much easier since I started making my own. He agrees, since he's absolutely amazed and delighted that I finally stopped choking him out in the truck and stinking like an ashtray all the time. :D

It was winter when I first started vaping, and now that it's winter again, I'm twice as delighted since I'm so firmly committed to vaping now -- no need to go outside and freeze my .... off at all, unless I'm actually going somewhere -- even the mailbox for my vapemail! (if I know there's no vapemail out there, I just let my husband get it when he comes home from work!) :D

Minne-soda!
My husband and I have always had slightly misaligned timing when it came to giving up smoking 100%. This time, I got sneaky-- I told him that I wanted to go get another PV and asked him to come with me into the store. He insisted that he didn't want one. Then I got him to try flavor after flavor, picked out my favorites and bought two PVs (CE4's with eGo-T batteries.) He just sort of made off with the 2nd one (which I would have happily kept btw) and the Rockstar flavored e-juice.

The next day he took me back to the shop so we could pick up extra batteries (and more e-juice.)

It's been three days and he's down from 30 cigarettes to 7 yesterday.

Totally off topic but where on earth did you find rockstar??? I found one place in Minnesota that has it but shipping is ridiculous. Was my favorite for a long time.

The brand name is Vaporall, one of the local head shops has started carrying e-cig supplies so I bought it locally but a quick google for their website: Electronic Cigarettes | Best E-Liquids | Vaporall Liquids - Rockster Energy | Vaporall

Overall their flavors are pretty good, the peach o's flavor is really mild, I think most people want a sharper peach but I like mixing it with cola or coffee so the mellowness suits me.
