Resistance Lock

I believe I have a good grasp of TC now and I understand (I think so anyway) the "mechanics" of "resistance lock." What I'm not sure of is the advantages and disadvantages of locking resistance vs keeping it unlocked. Would someone mind explaining how locking or keeping resistance unlocked affects vape quality or safety?

Resistance lock, on most mods, is typically used to solve the problem of drift on problematic atties.

Locking the resistance gives the mid a CONSTANT value to use for regulatory calculations.

TC regulates by comparing actual (heated) ohm to cold (starting) ohm value..
