I know this proves absolutely nothing at all but I still thought it was interesting.

I'm a registered nurse and I work at a nursing home. We're currently getting hit with a bunch of upper respiratory infections in both the staff and residents. To make a long story short, among the thirteen staff members working this afternoon/evening, eight are not feeling well. Here's the breakdown...

Three vapers - none sick
Four non-smokers - three sick
Six smokers - five sick

Granted, this could be coincidence. But maybe the PG is actually protecting us from getting sick. Wouldn't that be neat?!!?

I wish that were true! I am in the middle of an awful cold that started over the weekend and I've been vaping for almost 3 months.

hi feisty, did you get the cold after you started vaping? Just curious because most people who quit cigarettes get "cold like" symptoms when they stop smoking. Its a common side effect. All the stuff that has built up in the respiratory system are now clearing out and you will get a lot of phlegm and coughing. You might feel depressed and even tired for a bit. Its withdrawals.

SOme people get it more severely than others. Give it a few weeks and you will start to feel really good.

PG is pumped in many hospitals and ORs as it does have antibacterial properties.

PS, just saw that someone else already said this.:)

Very interesting! I know I get fewer colds and recovery is much faster since I switched to vaping. It's too bad your sample size is so small.

You are 100% right that the sample size is too small to be statistically valid and you are correct to point that out. At this point, it's just an interesting observation. I am not saying that vaping is actually good for you.

(But wouldn't it be neat if it was.....? The ANTZs would be foaming at the mouth. :) Just the thought of it makes me smile.)

This is an interesting topic, I've wondered that myself. When I switched to vaping from cigs back in January I was in the middle of a really bad sinus infection. Had it for months beforehand, but it was gone 1 week after starting to vape. There's also info floating around that hospitals use PG in their ventilation systems. I wonder....

It is ragweed season.. Doesn't matter how well you clean or keep out things from the outside.. it's gonna get you anyway..

Unfortunately, you are correct. I'm well stocked on tissues and Benadryl, which I will be eating like tic tacs until sometime in late October.

The Benadryl, not the tissues.

To be clear, I am *not* speaking of ragweed/allergies. That's a totally different kettle of fish. What I was speaking of in the original posting was actual respiratory infections.

My sympathies to everyone who has allergies.

I'm not sure but I honestly feel like vaping has made my upper respiratory infections worse, saying which I know is blasphemy around here but I recently had a really bad infection spurred by a small ulcer in my throat which I'm 99% sure came from vaping too much. This is also my second sinus/respiratory infection I've had in the 5ish months I've been vaping. Maybe i just need to slow down a bit..

I like your numbers, Barbara21! Yes, I wish the sample size was larger, and no, it's not "evidence," but it's telling nonetheless.

Myself, when I smoked I would get severe bronchitis at least once a year, assorted respiratory infections several times a year, and my allergies turned into sinusitis and frequent lesser sinus infections and sinus headaches. During the 10 months I've been vaping, no bronchitis, no respiratory infections, no sinusitis or lesser sinus infections. One cold of the drippy-nose variety, gone in two days. The allergies, alas, remain, but are so mild I no longer need medication.

Of course, that's only 10 months. Long-term study in progress. Results due in 2022... :vapor:

I haven't had so much as a cold since I started vaping 2 years ago. Used to get major bronchitis twice a year before that. I vape 70/30 pg/vg so there has to be something beneficial to this.

Same here. I'm sure my healthier lifestyle in general contributes, but vaping is playing some role. One year, I managed three bouts of bronchitis, one stomach flu, AND two sinus/ear/throat infections. The only thing kicking my .... this year is the ragweed
