Yes, nicotine has been studies since then and they've yet to demonstrate any contribution to heart disease in people without already compromised circulatory systems.
I didn't even watch that video. Know why? Because they just published the most recent research and the conclusions were tentative and preliminary. They think it might. The think they could have found a mechanism by which nicotine damages the inner linings of blood vessels such that, under certain circumstances, plaque can adhere more easily. But they're not sure. Nothing is conclusive and much more research is needed.
Earlier research failed to distinguish between the effects of nicotine and the effects of smoking. Only very recently have they even attempted to look for the effects of nicotine in isolation. All the prior research was oriented toward finding out the effects of smoking, not nicotine. There was little use for studying nicotine in isolation before recently because there was no real mechanism for people to ingest nicotine by itself.
There are many people trying to convince everyone that nicotine is harmful by itself. The best they can do is repeat scare stories about elevated blood pressure. If there was any even halfway reliable evidence that nicotine, in the absence of cigarette smoke, caused cardio-vascular disease, you can bet your lunch money they'd be trotting it out at every opportunity.
