I am a little bit scared of posting my symptoms as I notice that there are quite some adverse responses when an OP mentions anything negative re vaping. For the record, I have been vaping for near on 18 months and totally enchanted with this 'new' way of handling my nicotene addiction. I am female, past 50 and a smoker (1ppd for 35 yrs). During the past 18 months I have cut back to 4- analogues per day as well as vaping 3ml x 26mg per day. I am a dedicated vape-oholic. In retrospect I now surmise that I might have had too much nicotene per day.
I was hospitilised in ICU after Christmas with a heart that fibrillated at 220 per minute. According to the ECG and elevated enzymes (blood tests) I was actually having a heart attack. An angiogram was done and the cardiologist informed me that I was a very lucky lady as I did not suffer a heart attack, but arterial fibrillation. All other blood tests looked good and my arteries were open and not closed up.No harm done to my heart, but I had to immediately stop smoking and he banned the use of my e-cig as well, because of the nicotine I am ingesting through it.
I am extremely glad to say, that I have not had an analogue in over a week, but I am still vaping after I had diluted my juice to 13mg. I also try to not use the e-cig as a pacifier and vape responsibly.
:confused:I used the search engine and I did get some answers from old threads.
As English is not my first language, I hope this post will successfully transfer my POSITIVE feeling about vaping. I am quite sure that my recent problem stemmed from too much nicotine. Please just be aware of the amount of nicotine you are ingesting daily. Maybe someone with knowledge can help me with the math on vaping 13mg and ml per day.

Wow - very glad you are ok and no harm was done to your heart.

I agree that some will blame everything on something other than vaping and in some cases it is probably a correct assumption. However, we really don't know the effects vaping will have on us.

The juice, PG and VG we use may be approved for the purpose they were created for but how does that change when heating and inhaling it? The materials that is used in the filler, cart or carto's - do these emit harmful properties when heated and does that get in to the vapor we inhale?
You have to do what is best for you and your body. I do feel it is healthier than smoking cigarettes - it has to be. From what I've read, nicotine is a stimulant, like caffeine and not connected with smoke related cancers. I am not in the medical profession so whatever I am saying is just by reading what others are saying :)

As a general rule - if you like it, it is bad for you :)

Can't help you with the math, but wanted to suggest that perhaps, if you are concerned about the nicotine amount, why not supplement with 0 nic liquid. I went from two to three packs a day down to 4 or 5 snus portions (personally needed some of those other alkaloids in tobacco) and very, very low nic level liquid. As time went on, I found that the hand to mouth habit, for me, was just as strong as the nic addiction, which makes me question the "highly addictive" nature of nic. I now vape only occasionally, mostly in social settings.

There are times I want a bit of a nic hit from vaping and I'll pull out a bottle of 24 or 36mg and drip a few drops on my atty and I'm good to go. Just some thoughts. Hopefully your health issue was just a one time event.

Thank God you are ok V!! What a scare.
Unfortunately, there is some negative backlash when anyone posts about problems with vaping. It might have something to do with paranoia that the FDA will use the posts against vaping.

I for one, am glad that you posted. Whether the community likes it or not, we need to hear BOTH the pros and cons of vaping, and what people are experiencing when they vape. The saying that vaping is better than smoking at this point in time, for me, is wearing thin. There have been no studies on the short and long term effects of vaping. Not only that, but there are no standards set for the liquids that we vape. Yes, it got us off the nasty cigs, but would it have been better if we were to grow our own tobaccco and smoke that?

I read in a thread where someone had purchased 100mg nic juice to DIY. Long story short, the juice was mislabeled in regards to nic strength due to the nic base that was used. This person got very sick.

The vaping community has been lucky so far. One of these days, that luck will run out.

Sorry for the rant.

Did the doc say you have to take any medications because of what happened? Will you be going back for a check up?

Please post back on how you are doing or pm me - 'cause I'd really like to know that you are doing well.

So far so good, but I am a bit paranoic at this stage. I definitly believe we consume more nicotine via vaping. I am coping quite well on the lower nic and still can't believe I have not had an analogue in a fortnight. Healthier I belkieve concerning the cancer issue, but. I wonder about the vaso constriction of nic on the arteries? The cardiologist prescribed a heart tab for 6 months to regulate the rythm. He says outright that nic was my problem as the angiogram showed no clogged arteries. I hope to eventually be off all nic, but I love the habit
