I am not sure if anyone remember this but this was my very first thread describing me as a tobacco chewer/spitter and my desire to change my mothers lifetime smoking habit.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-everyone-new-guy-here-questions-experts.html

I had many questions for all of you experienced vapers. Well, it's been over a week later and I just wanted everyone to know how we are doing. We decided to start off with the Volt Starter Kit from SmoklessImage.com. This is the kit we decided on: Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Volt - Pro Starter Kit - Starter Kits Thanks Washvap!! :)

It seemed to have all we really needed to begin. We did order a couple of extra stuff like more cartos and some charging accessories. My mother, who was adamant that she MUST have something as close to her cigarette experience as possible got the white battery, black cartos with an orange light. I preferred the chrome battery, black cartos and blue light. We ordered the Freedom cartos with 18mgs. Having no idea how to refill the cartos, we also ordered the Cowboy juice with 24mgs because she's a "heavy" smoker and the Skoal chew that I buy supposedly holds a lot of nicotine so we thought we would need it. (extra point, I used to smoke for ten years before I changed to chewing tobacco for another ten years).

Our ECigs arrived! I was kind of excited and hoped that they could wean me off of chewing tobacco and I hoped my mother would be open to the differences of vaping over smoking. It took us only about 30 minutes to feel things out and figure how all this works. The batteries (my mom and I call this the "cigarette") were already pretty much charged. I opened and took out one of the cartos (we call these the filters lol) and screwed it on the battery. I told my mom everything I read here from all of you guys and gals here. I explained to her that she has to draw slower and longer than a normal cigarette and she seemed ok with it. She was VERY surprised at the familiarity of the ECig. She started puffing like a champ and didn't mind the different taste that much. After I set her up with her new "cigarette", I got my own out and was hoping that I took to it as easy. I knew I wouldn't be putting that "dip" in my mouth and spitting like normal so I had to keep myself open to the "smoking" action again. I put everything together and started vaping. I found it a tad rough on the throat but the flavor and vaper was pretty good. I had to leave my mother due to me having to go to work. I drive for a living so I can basically vape all day if I wanted and with 18mg cartos, I basically did.

I found that it was enough but was looking forward to emptying a carto just so I could refill with 24mgs. The next day, I did just that. First let me say, THIS was the first day in over 10 YEARS that I did not have some Skoal! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!? Over 10 years of tobacco stuffed between my teeth and inner lip! Spitting in an old Coke bottle. Not anymore!! I'M A VAPER GETTING MY NICOTINE WITHOUT ALL THAT CRAP THAT WAS GOING TO MAKE ME LOSE TEETH OR GIVE ME MOUTH CANCER! I urgently ordered more juice! Caramel Cappuccino! Watermelon! Cinnamon bun! CAN'T WAIT TO GET THEM! I love it! I "get it". I get vaping! But I was hoping my mother would too.

I called my mother late at night the first day we had them. WOW! She took to it with no problem. I was shocked!! I honestly thought that I would call her and she would say that she tried it and it was too different so she went back to analogues. I really thought that! No way!! She loves vaping! I left the longer chrome battery (MINE) at her house and she started using that because she thought it looked "cool"! This from my 67 year old mother! She has since confiscated my longer chrome battery! lol I'll buy another. She said that later she started to burn an analogue and she didn't like the smell so she put it right out. She said that she now has a desire to always have the Volt in her hand at all times. LOL! I told her that's ok and then I told her of the other flavor juices I had just ordered and she was interested in trying them! WOW AGAIN! Ok, now I KNOW we are making a difference! It's been 4 days now and I am Skoal free and Mom is analogue free! What a change! No wonder the cig companys are trying to put the ECig's out of business! smh!

Thanks everybody for the help and suggestions! We're well on our way to using nicotine in a better way. Maybe we'll even break from it and vape nic-free someday!

BTW, we tried the 24mg juice after I looked online how to refill the cartos. I found the "DRVaper" (sp?) video's and used the condom method. It was pretty strong! Even stronger than my Skoal if I tried to vape for any amount of serious time. My mother felt the same way so we are happy with the 18mgs. for now. :)

My best bud used to smoke and then switched to dip. He quit fifteen years ago and still has da cravings. So, congrats to you and your Mom.

This is an excellent experience and I'm glad you shared it. Please make sure that you both drink tons of water because vaping is very dehydrating and will hit when least expected. You both may also experience a week of not being able to taste much of anything. Don't give up. It's simply your taste buds repairing themselves. Good luck to you both.

Fantastic story!

Two more Hoosiers on the vaping journey.

If I knew I was passing you on the road, I'd throw an extra bottle of juice in your cab.

(I have over a dozen with me today. It is like some kind of weird collecting thing. Threw on a jacket this morning and when I get to work I find a bottle in each pocket. How old are some of these and why do I have them in a jacket? Why did that bottle pick today to roll out from under the seat when I parked?)

Thank you everyone! We are doing great. It's funny because I don't miss the Skoal at all! I have noticed lately that my inner lips were getting more sensative to the chewing tobacco. AFTER 10 YEARS! Suddenly it was burning my inner lips like I had just started so I don't miss the chew at all.

Yes, we've noticed the need for drinking more water and that's fine. I always have a big bottle next to me in my car. No problems. I think that my old cigarette smoking experience before the chewing tobacco let me get comfortable easier with the ECig.

This morning I went back to the 24mg that I thought was too harsh yesterday after filling a new carto. Today it's not so bad! Maybe I just needed to let it dryout (?) for a day.

Thanks again everyone! Looking forward to getting my other flavors! Not crazy about the cigarette flavors my mom insisted we start out on! :)

LOL!!!

Funny Hoosier! I know now that I will need to find a way to keep all my refilled cartos organized somehow because I think I will be using a lot of different flavors in the future! If I suddenly see a flavor bottle hurtling towards my head while I am driving, I'll try and remember to thank you! lol ;)

Good luck with that. I have atomizers and cartos everywhere.

Pockets in my car & pants. Gear shift boot. Desk drawers. Coats and jackets. Boxes. Bags.

I ran out of battery power once and now have enough to keep my house going for a day.

I got down to one atomizer once and now have enough to clog a combine head.

It could be a marriage stressor if she did not support the switch so well.

When you find the perfect organization system, please share and I will add onto mine. (That's my story, multiple organization systems...yeah, that's the ticket...)
