Returning Ex-vaper and TH questions.

Hi folks.

I fell off the wagon a few years ago. Fiddling with short lived batteries, dead carts, lack of local suppliers, and hauling all this mess around while traveling put me back on analogs. I was using V4L 808 batts and WOW carts and I am a chain smoker/vaper. While they were great for rental cars and airports - they just couldn't keep up.

Now, I see many improvements have been made. Big mods and tanks are readily available and it seems like a good time to try again as the analogs are really doing me in. I ordered some juice, carts, a tank, and a wall adapter for my old pass through to get me by but I want to get a mod for travel. I am leaning to a Provari as it allows flexibility and is something I won't have to worry about down the road.

My question is about TH. My WOW carts pack a punch for me and are a bit too strong in the morning and I am not all that excited about big clouds of vapor. In fact, stealth vaping is more what I want. In the morning I need smooth mellow hits or I get coughing fits. Later on I need something harsher as, oddly enough, the discomfort of the burn is part of the addiction.

What is the determining factors for TH? Do I need the big plumes of vapor? Is it all PG/VG ratio or will a VV mod allow me to dial it up and down as needed? Will one coil size fill the range or will I need at least a low and a high ohm coil?

I don't need vape perfection - just the minimum amount of stuff to carry around to accomplish the task. I hope to get that with a VV mod. maybe 2 tanks loaded with 2 strengths of fluid plus fluid, batts and charger.

Am I on the right track here? Any advice?

Thanks,

Ed

Welcome Eddie! What do you smoke now, and how much? That will give people an idea of the hit you're looking for. I will tell you one thing. The first hit in the morning is the strongest, at least for me.
VV will definitely allow you to dial it down. PG adds to throat hit, but makes less vapor. Maybe a low nic-strength PG? I do 70/30 PG/VG and feel it's a happy medium.

Hi Ed and welcome back.
Juice Components
Flavoring usually about 15%- could be higher or lower depending on the flavor used.
PG enhances flavor, TH and lung hit- water like- many of us believe it to be a throat irritant
VG= vapor and can mute flavor- thick
Nicotine- TH, lung hit and our need for nicotine. The MOST important ingredient in regards to TH and lung hit.
Standards in the industry are 80/ 20 or 70/ 30 PG/ VG. I vape 70/ 30 PG/ VG.

Many of us having varying strengths/ mg of juice on hand- lower for evenings and higher for stressful times. With the Provari you should be able to "dial up or down" to achieve what you're looking for.
The Very Best of Luck.

Throat hit is a combination of a lot of things, nicotine content probably being first, then vapor temp, plus the flavor of nic juiced used. A lot of people who use low nic/no nic juices will use a couple of drops of menthol to add th to mild juices.
I think for portability, eGo Twists or Vision Spinners with clearos (Kangers\Vivi Novas) are among the best. With Kangers, the T2 is a top coil and will produce a warmer vapor/th, where the T3 is a bottom coil and will produce a cooler vapor. The Vivi's are top coil as well.
You really can't go wrong with this combo, cheap, they don't leak, they're easy to fill and small and portable.

Hmm.. an EGO VV w/passthrough cable looks cheap and promising. Battery for airports and pasthrough cable for car/hotel use. I just can't find if it will charge while in PT mode and it looks like a sealed battery. I'd have to toss it after 30 charges as that's all I typically get with batteries.

Vivi Nova is already on my short list :)

Hmmm. Don't know that brand, so I don't know how strong it is. I'm a menthol type too, and I'm currently using Blue Mist Vaping. They're super cheap, so it might be worth a shot to try samples. I got 50 ml for $22 using the 5 sample pack. You may not like them, but that's the risk we take as vapers. The reason I mention them specifically is that they are 80PG/20PG as opposed to my normal 70/30, and I'm hardly getting any vapor on the exhale. In fact, I added VG to increase it. I found the TH to be a little harsh, but you could always try lower nic levels, or of course to turn down the voltage, since you plan to get VV. I usually recommend the eGo Twist or the KGO VV to new people, but there are tons of others on here. NO complaints about the Provari, of course. It's an awesome PV, and what I use most of the day. :)

Some 80pg/20vg ... 24mg nic should give you what you want, strong hit and less vapor and in a menthol I don't think you will have a problem on throat hit lol ... I am using "Vision" branded Vivi Nova's 3.5ml ones they don't leak and are what you want if you get a Vivi for a mod, a mod can be dialed up to slam you in the throat if you got the right juice

I have a Provari and a Vamo, I use both but the Provari is easily my favorite

I quit vaping for the same exact reasons you did, but came back and this time was a game changer because of the equipment, below is my story and I am still going strong, NO Ciggs!

I have a Provari and a Vamo as well, but he was asking about something for "stealth vaping" and those aren't exactly the stealthiest devices around.I generally leave my 18xxx mods at home and just carry eGo's to work, as they're much friendlier in the pocket.

What I mean by stealth is vapor only.

I find folks don't care what you have stuck in your mouth as long as you're not obnoxious about it and they can't smell it.

People see smoke and automatically smell fire.

I can then say it's a medical nicotine device/nebulizer as I can't use patches. I have gotten nicotine OD on even small patches and I never want to get that again. It triggers panic attacks and delirium in me.

As a roving technician I am used to carrying flashlights and tools on my belt. I was thinking of a belt holster for whatever mod I get. I can tell the kiddies I am a Jedi :p

Graig, you hit the nail on the head!

I want the best hassle free setup I can get.

1. Anything less and I won't stick with it.
2. I want flexibility for whatever my mood with whatever I have on hand.
3. The Whole Hog idea works as a mental crutch. "I spent $$$ on this mess and by golly I'm gonna see it through!"
4. Fast charging and replaceable batteries.

I still think I will get an Ego VV w/PT and a 510 to 901/808d adapter to replace my 808 (250 mah batts?) but I am sure going to miss those automatic batteries. A cigarette hardly leaves my lips until it's out or replaced.

You'll get used to the button soon enough, it really wasn't much of an adjustment to get rid of the automatic cig-a-like devices and adjust to something with a button that's a little more robust.
