One other question: what batteries should I be using. Currently I'm running the AW IMR 18650, but given the possibilities of creating sub-ohm coils could this cause any issue? Is there a minimum to keep in mind? I've read people creating 0.3 - 0.6 ohm coils and only wonder what danger lurks within that set up from battery damage.

You should get know this calculator Online Conversion - Ohm's Law Calculator

Using max battery voltage of 4.2 it will tell you that a .3 ohm coil will pull 14 amps. So to maintain a safe margin of never exceeding 70% of the batteries max continuous ratting you'd need batteries rated at least 20 amps or higher. The AW IMT 1600 are rated at 24 amps. We have test data showing that these deliver a higher voltage longer than a lot of batteries. Unfortunately we don't have curves yet for the newer batteries. Battery test-review 18650 comparator

A stock Grand can handle .7 ohm coils all day, as you go lower you could possibly run into heat melting the button and if you go lower than .5 you could run into the spring collapsing. To mitigates these either install the up coming low voltage drop kit Rob has on order of DIY the fuse and firing pin mods.

Welcome back. In case no one has told you yet we have a community center now, if you go in the front door and to the left you will see the coil and modding work area, across the room you will see the DIY area for those who like to mix and share recipes. Out back you will find the bar, and on occasion a rather large woman singing requests. I would expect the mayor to stop by and make your return official.

I do not plan to use anything lower than 1.2 ohm honestly, but I was just wondering. I just purchased some 26 gauge kanthal to give that a shot, but I also have some 32 gauge I've been using in my protank.

You might want to get some 28 gauge too, 26 gauge might be a bit overkill for your ohms 1.2 and above. CVS cotton works fine for many, especially just to get going, its cheap, easy to use and works well. I'm still using it...

Please post pics of your new Grand when it arrives!

I've realized after purchasing the 26 gauge, that I should have went with 28. The order already shipped though so I will make do with the 26 and 32 gauge I have at the moment. I may try the twisted method I seen from RiP Tripper with the 32 and more wraps for the 26, although that'll probably cause a delay in the heating process.

Edit: and don't worry a photo shoot will be scheduled after arrival :)

I ordered the LP Tumbled. I'm a bit worried right now, though. I checked the tracking and it has "signature confirmation" on the features. If it requires a signature that means I will have to pick it up at the post office, and I won't be able to get to the post office until Friday. I may need to sneak away from work early on the date it arrives to make the post office. Reo first, work second.
Glad you got your priorities straight....!!!:D
Awaiting pics upon its arrival......!:)
Happy (vaping) Trails!

To jump back to the wick materials. I had to run to Academy yesterday for some new running shoes, and stopped at the Michael's next door to pick up some of the bamboo yarn mentioned earlier. Is there anything special that needs to be done prior to utilizing it as a wick? I cannot seem to find much information in regards to using bamboo. It appears most people are set on the cotton, with patches of silica etc...
