Just checked the DNA 200 data sheet. Yes, reverse battery protection, but by blowing the fuse, which is very difficult to repair oneself. I wouldn't really call that reverse battery protection as we're used to on other boards.

The data sheet also says that there's an accessory board available that provides cell by cell protection for 18650s. So normal reverse battery protection is not built into the board.

And I have great experience with fasttech warranty. Sure, it'll take quite a lot of time, but you won't need to pay for shipping.

Look guys, I'm really not dissing the DNA 200 here. It looks like an awesome board. But it isn't perfect, and for most people the $100 cheaper rx200 version is good enough. Better actually, if one's computer skills aren't that good. The rx comes ready to go, which the dna200 doesn't. It would be awesome if manufacturers would preprogram settings for other common tc materials such as Ti01 and SS 316, and of course set up mod resistance etc so the end user doesn't have to bother with that.

I'll repeat what I said earlier. Evolv fanboys are becoming as annoying as the Provari fanboys from a year or so ago.

I also have several of the Wismec mods and several of the eleaf including the eleaf 40W TC and the 60W TC
I have found all the Wismec products great and have had no issues with them. I have tried the Reuleaux DNA 200 and I do not consider it worth the extra $$$$ Its like the days of the Provari mods, etc., I looked at the Provari when they were around and again found them not worth the money and settled for an Itop D which by the way 2 years down the track still runs well and I would hate to say how many times I dropped it.

In another post I compared the Reuleaux 200 to the Kooper Plus and the Reuleaux wins hands down. Its your own personal choice of course but for my hard earned cash I would not waste it just for snob appeal.

Vape on peeps and be happy

If you want accuracy, go with the DNA-200. If you want support and a better warranty, go with the DNA-200. If you want a much better screen, go with the DNA-200. If you want access to forums where the owner and engineer actually post and answer questions, go with the DNA-200. If you like having the option to tinker with escribe, customize your mod, watch the mod's behavior live with device monitor, etc., then go with the DNA.

If price matters, go with the RX. If you will only vape in VW mode, go with the RX. If having no real warranty is OK, go with the RX (sure, you might get a warranty, but do you really want to have to ship it to China and wait a few months?). Oh and the RX does have reverse battery protection on the board (the DNA doesn't because it was designed to work with internal Lipos).

I own one of the newer Joytech/Wismec boards and it isn't accurate with reading the resistance. It's always .1 to .2 Ω higher than the reading on my DNA-200. This will throw TC off by a good bit. Sure, you can play with it and get it to work in TC mode (and be in the ballpark of the set temp), but it's simply nowhere as accurate as the DNA. It's probably pretty accurate in VW mode, though. So, if you don't vape TC, the RX-200 is probably a better choice.

@KenD, I thought you owned a DNA-200? You posted a while back that you had just gotten a Reuleaux DNA and was playing around with it, etc. Now you say you don't own one. Sup with that?

If you want a DNA200 mod Get a Good one, Like a VaporShark :)
If you want an inexpensive 200 watt mod get a Rolo :)

I do own a Reuleaux DNA 200. Are you referring to the post above yours where I'm quoted? I wrote that before I had a DNA 200.

I do actually prefer the rx200 though. The DNA 200 version is ok but I've had more problems with it than with the rx. It is definitely not worth $100 more.

here is my take

if you dont have any hobby aside from vaping
spend a lot of time doing nothing and just vaping
having time to fiddle around and such
and wnat to have that bragging rights that you ahve dough

go for the dna version

if you just vape,
would like to easily find your sweet spot
and adjust accordingly,
and forget and do much more than just sititng in front of a pc,

shoot for the rx

to be honest, yup the dna is accurate.
even in tc,.who cares if i am 100 degrees of the actual temp.
i still am satisfied with my vape.

Hi Ken,

Just a heads up in case you're not aware of it. Evolv has just released a really nice firmware update out for the DNA200 on their site. I highly recommend you checking it out.

Cheers,
Steve

I installed the 1.0.38, I think. The one that lets you have temp as the dominant variable. Is there a newer one? What does it do?

They released 2 within 2 days - 1.0.39 being the newest. It added a new screen and something new in the material tab. I think the one you have is 2016-02-10, the newest one is 2016-02-12. I didn't realize you had already updated - the newest one a couple of days later just tweaked a few things.

Cheers,
Steve

I might have to try out the newer one. I've been too lazy to play much with custom screens lately though :)

I found James post on what the newest version added:

The changes are: (1) it adds a separate graphic for Hold To Change Power, (2) the curve resizes correctly so Actions is always visible, and (3) there's a "New Material" button on the Materials tab, so it doesn't always have to come from a file.

Cheers,
Steve

I haven't been following the progress of the updates as I didn't see much of value and as you know my DNA200 is currently away dead so am unable to load it anyway. But does this mean they now have the ability to set TCR on the device without the need to use Escribe first?

I am also interested in knowing if it is possible to set tcr on the device without the need of plugging in into a Pc.
not on the dna200 version. however, on the rx200 version, you can manually adjust the TCR from the mod because there is no computer software to adjust it from.

How well do your batteries discharge in the rx200? My co worker has one and it seems his batteries tend to discharge at different rates, as in one will be 80%, and the others will be much lower, around 40+\-%. I'm really interested in this mod but that seems odd to me. Might just be over thinking it, just wouldn't want to discharge the batteries too much. Thanks
