just a quick update: I flipped the little brass button around and the thing is working wonderfully now. Took me a minute to fill the RES appropriately (I always had a tendancy to overfill things), but now it has flavor and vapor, and lots of it. I've been talking with TmeisT and he is setting me up. Great company...I look forward to posting again after I use it a little longer. I anticipate many good vapes from this little guy though. Alex

Whoa, yeah the "pellet" goes in with the bevel/chamfer facing the atomizer. If you slide the switch hard without an atomizer installed it can dislodge the pellet. Otherwise it has nowhere to go and will not move. Note that the Apex Alpha switches "float" by design, this is to accommodate irregularities in batteries and atomizers.

Yes agreed. The Customer Service is outstanding. The whole experience has been one of the most pleasant I've had since starting late January.

From the box, the booklet, to the actual product, to Customer Service.. This was all well planned by InnoVapor. I applaud you InnoVapor :)

I am so glad to hear that you are enjoying the whole experience. That is what vaping is all about. I hope you continue to enjoy it and remember that I am always here to answer any questions that you have.

Cheers

Hi Tony

Just wanted to say that the new part arrived today, and the ultralite is now working just fine. Thanks for the great service!

Awesome you are welcome. I really wanted you to give it a try once all the parts were working correctly. I had a feeling once you started using it you would really like it. So heres to a new mod that will last you for years.

Cheers

Awesome. Again for the public benefit - my switch works, but I guess it's designed to be a bit tighter than the one I have.

Yes the switches that come apart still work just fine. But they are not meant to so we need to replace it. We think of the alpha as the best unit available, but in order to be the best you have to have the best parts and service as well. Thats why we replace it.

First hour review of the Alpha Max w/RES running on a 17670 battery.

Appearance: Absolutely gorgeous. I love the weight. Nice and light even with a 17670 battery. Due to nerve damage in my hands, heavy mods don't appeal to me. Button slides easily, just takes some getting used to. Doesn't show fingerprints as bad as I initally thought. Cleans up very easily. The button cutout is very smooth around the edges. No burrs to get caught on your finger. Threads are nice and smooth but I recommend using Noalox to keep your threads from wearing out.

Right out of the box to use: I had a panic attack. I currently only have the grey TrustFire 17670 batteries for use in my Megalodon. They didn't want to fire the mod. Luckily, I had some magnetic spacers. I applied one and it fired.

Using a Boge standard resistance cartomizer with RES: I loaded the cartomizer and filled the ceramic as instructed. I overfilled the cartomizer so I was getting juice in my mouth. It took a couple of blowing outs to get it working properly. I will update on how the cartomizer is feed by the RES. 3ml of juice total will take me half a day to go through. Hopefully, the RES will feed it properly. When I start getting a dry/burnt taste, or hint of it, I will remove the RES and inspect it to see if the juice has been depleted. I am keeping my fingers/toes crossed that the RES will be empty. I love cartomizers over atomizers.

Using a standard resistance atomizer: Works but you can't overdraw on it. I'm guilty of super long draws. I get a mouthful of vapor, inhale, then another mouthful all in the same firing. If I do this back to back, I get the dreaded metal taste. If I wait 30 seconds in between draws, no metal taste. In other words, I have to slowdown on my draws. RES feeds the atomizer just fine but pause in between draws.

Leakage: I haven't had any leaking problems with it like I have had with the MAP tanks. That is always a plus. The ceramic holds the liquid and when you draw on your atomizer/cartomizer, the liquids breaks loose and drops down. It will then seep into the air ports in the side of the atomizer connection hole. When you inhale, liquid is then pulled into your atomizer holes feeding the coil. Liquid doesn't leak and get on you unless you overfill the RES.

Overall I would recommend this to someone who has been vaping for awhile. Took some knowledge about spacers to use the batteries I have (my new 17670's are on the way so hopefully no more spacers). For a newbie, this is a device a little too advanced but yet it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. I only had to tinker a little bit with spacers to get it to fire. A new person to vaping would have to watch the videos provided on the forum.

I love the capacity of the Max RES as long as it continously feeds my cartomizers...time will tell on this. I love the warranty that is one the unit and the peace of mind that if anything goes wrong, Innovapor will replace it.

So far, after one hour of use, 2 thumbs up on this device. By the end of the day, I should now if the RES is feeding the cartomizer properly and will update this post.

After finally getting a dry flavorless taste from my cartomizer, I took the RES out of the unit. It was dry.

Filling it up to use a cartomizer is different than if you use an atty. I found that filling the RES removed and then filling the cartomizer works better than dripping it down into the cartomizer. I keep getting juice in my mouth by direct dripping. So if you are going to use a cartomizer on your unit, fill the RES ceramic first, then the cartomizer last. Vape and enjoy.

just got my ultra max today and have been using it for about an hour or so i am using it with two cr 123a 3.7 volt batteries with a HV 510 atty i first filed the res as shown on the video i saw the juice seep into the ceramic right away very creative and unique system i ten dripped about 10 drops into the atty and blew it down into the res so far have been vaping on it for a hour with out having to add any more juice i am getting great flavor and awesome vapor have had no leaks at all even when i was walking around with it in my pocket the button never fired in my pocket and i can be confident that it wont fire unintentionally when vaping on it the switch is very easy to push and fires every time so far i am loving my new mod and look forward for this to be my driving mod since i dont have to drip constantly overall i think this is a great device and im looking forward to getting tons of use out of it and with the incredible warranty i know i will never have to worry thanks N8T for making a great mod and thanks innovapor for the great customer service

How long do you think it took for the wick to become dry?

I started vaping, after figuring out my battery problem, at about 11am. It became dry around 7pm. 8 hours is the longest I've ever had approximately 3ml of juice last me. I generally vape 6-7ml a day.

3ml, I mean 2ml in the RES and a Boge 1ml standard resistance cartomizer filled.

I also want to add that I'm still on the same 17670 battery. 8 hours use and still going. That is excellent considering that I would have had to changed the batteries out on some of my other mods.

I would love to see a variable voltage model come out that would run off an 17670 or 18650 battery. I know the cost would be higher but it would be worth it. That is the only thing that I miss not having on this unit but I can live with it.

VV & 3-4ml RES capacity would be fantastic. :) I am impressed with the UltraMax RES. This PV is smaller than most of my mods, but has more flavor, and vapor production than the others across the board using the same LR IkenVape 510 / 2.0 ohm atty..

I received my UltraMax with RES late this morning, and have tried to put it through its paces so that I could give my impressions of the unit as a whole. A lot of what I am going to say has already been mentioned by other posters so I hope that you guys don't mind reading what I have to say. In all of my excitement, I set up my camera and lightboxes over the weekend so that I could take some pictures of the UltraMax when it arrived today. I hope that you guys enjoy the photos.

I'm not one that cares much for packaging, but I will say that I did appreciate the way that the PV was presented in the box. It was well wrapped and lined by foam, and included was a comprehensive 95 page instruction manual. That's something that I have never received from any other vendor, and it just shows how much time, thought and care went into this line of PVs. Even with a 17670 battery, the unit itself is very lightweight and compact. The finish has a nice brushed aluminum look that does a very good job at resisting fingerprints. Like another reviewer mentioned, the finish of the base unit is not exactly the same as the finish of the RES. The RES has a much duller sheen to it; you can see this in the photo below. Many won't mind it so much, but I'm a stickler for matching so the difference in finish does bother me a tad...but it in no way affects how the PV performs. The rest of the PV is immaculate. The cutout for the switch on the outer sleeve is smooth and free of any sharp or jagged edges. The corrugated surface of the inner battery sleeve gives a nice tactile feel to the PV and allows for a sufficient amount of traction for activating the switch.

I disassembled the unit and noticed that the threads were binding a bit, especially the threads for the RES top cap. I inspected the threads and found a few nicks on them, and that was probably why it was binding. I applied some Noalox to all of the threads, and that made it much easier to assemble/disassemble. Like I do with all my other mods, I also applied Noalox to all of the brass contact points. I inspected the switch since there are others that have had problems with theirs, and it appears as though I also received one of the switches that slipped through QC. The brass contact on the atty side popped out when I depressed the switch, but it was easy to put back into place. I also noted that the brass center post on the battery end would bind every now and then. I fiddled with it a bit, and the post can easily be removed from the delrin bushing. Since my center post was already out, I applied some Noalox to it and it does not bind anymore. I'll PM someone to let them know that I got one of the faulty switches, but it's very apparent that the customer service at InnoVapor is on the ball with this issue so I am not worried about it. The PV still functions with this switch, but I am confident that it will perform even better with the proper switch.

I followed the RES filling instructions that were posted in a previous video. It was simple to do and didn't take much time at all. I filled a syringe so that I could find out exactly how much liquid the UltraMax RES could hold, and I was able to use 1.8mL before the RES was completely saturated.

L1040764.jpg

I'm a chain-vaper that takes fairly long draws (at least 8-10 seconds, 3-4 times in a row). With that vaping style, the RES can't really keep up when using a Joye 1.5Ω atty. The first two pulls will produce massive amounts of flavor and vapor, but the next few draws results in a dry atty taste. I did notice that taking some long slow pulls without activating the switch will allow you to get more juice into the atty, and that seems to help a lot. I also tested the RES out with a Boge 2.0Ω cartomizer, and I feel as though it performs much better with that setup. Use of a cartomizer also provides an airier draw than a Joye atty, but I actually prefer the tighter draw.

L1040770.jpg

With all things said, I am still very impressed with the unit. The use of a ceramic core in the RES is a very innovative idea, and it performs extremely well. The 2mL capacity combined with a full cartomizer provides enough juice to last me through most of the day, and I'm sure that as each day goes by I will enjoy this PV more and more.

As I was checking out the updates to this thread, I noticed my switch was acting a little stiff again so I unscrewed the battery housing to make sure the contact wasn't jammed up. As I did that, the brass contact and spring fell down onto the battery and unfortunately touched the side of the battery sleeve. The spring almost instantly started glowing orange. I dumped the battery out as fast as I could.

So, lesson learned. I'll wait for my new switch to arrive before using my Alpha Ultra again. I should have waited anyway but didn't think of that as a possibility:facepalm:

I would advise those of you with the easily removable switch contact to wait for the new switch.

I want to be clear that I'm not saying anything negative about the device or InnoVapor at all. I've really been enjoying the Alpha and the customer service has been TOP NOTCH!

Just thought I'd put the warning out there for those of you with the same issue.
