I had a pretty much dead 901 atmoizer. It gave me very little vapor even when dripping. Anyway I had it hooked up via passthru and decided to play around with it. I covered the atomizer hole with my finger and decided to pull long draws on it 3 to 4 times. It smelled burnt and tasted disgusting so then I put it down. I came back about an hour later, dripped it and popped in a new cart and I coughed from the unexpected throat hit. It was working like new again! I'm still in the process of breaking in my new m401 so it was a huge pleasure getting throat hit again. Maybe there is a reason for the "cleaning cycle." So if anyone's got a dead atomizer, maybe this will help you! Happy vaping! :)

Darth--that was indeed the intent of the manufactures with the battery cleaning clycle--only problem is that it snaps the coil off the contacts when the residue is too built up--doing it often and as maintence might yield some results--Sun

Wow, after reading your results, I tried the same on an atomizer I've had for over a month thats getting really tough to draw through. After a few long pulls with the hole covered, the draw is INCREDIBLY easy again... Not quite sure how or what it did, but its definitely hitting much better again!
Yeah, I accidentally did this on my 901 at work a couple of days ago and thought I had totally destroyed something - the smell and taste were horrible and I was sad because it was the only atomizer I had with me. Prior to that the atomizer had been performing less than ideally. After it happened I blew it out, tentatively drew on it a few times (it still smelled really bad so I was trying not to inhale anything) and after a few minutes it was performing as well as it had the very first time I tried it! Now that it has cleaned itself the atomizer doesn't seem to overheat the way it had been lately either.

It's great to hear that. I think I'm going to start doing it periodically and we'll see how long it'll last. It's day 2 for me and it's still pulling pretty good.

Thanks, that is really good information. How often would you recommend doing it?

Darth--that will work as an excellent maintence tool if done everyday--You would be surpirsed just how much Residue builds up in one day of moderate use!!!! It is like cleaning a frying pan after you use it. If you do not clean the pan after a few times--it is going to be a real mess to try to clean it once everythink bakes one----Sun

Sun i think all of u are on to something. I tried it just by blowing thru the batt side in the mirror with short fast puffs trying to keep it as red as i could as long as i could. Put some juice in the atts and carts and it vap like new i was choking, it was so much vap we must dig deeper into this .Case and point I've only been vaping for about 40 days so my atts are not that old yet but something happen it was sizzling burnt smell and i did drain the mesh by stuffing paper towels then blowing thru the atts first.

so basically are you blowing the atomizer of all the liquid inside and then burning it or does it have to have liquid inside? I guess im kind of confused because if the atom. has to have liquid inside...then what is the difference between that and just regular usage?

It seems that when you run the atomizer without drawing the vapor, it reaches a higher temperature. Otherwise, during "regular use" the action of drawing air through the atomizer hole cools down the heating coil. So in a way, it's kinda like boiling water. If you had the lid on it's going to heat up faster than if the lid was off. So basically when you heat up the atomizer without drawing vapor, there's nowhere for the heat to escape. As a result, it burns off the built up residue that doesn't atomize at normal operating temperatures.

Hope this helps.
