Riva Carto and ego

I just received a Rivo Carto that I like a lot. But one thing I remember the dealer telling me was that it would also take ego cartos - not just 510. Is that correct and would there be any benefit to doing this? Just wondering. I thought ego and 510 were different sizes.

same size, diff't threads. ego threads are on the outside of a 510 connection. basically it's 2 diff't ways to connect a 510 device.
