There's not much to distinguish one drip tip from the next, although some people claim to get a metallic taste off the stainless steel or aluminum types (I'm not one of them). They're pretty much just tips with holes in them, but some of them have pretty narrow holes, and that can get messy. Here's two I know of that work well:

These are a little pricey for a delrin tip, but the opening is a good size and it works well aesthetically with my Riva: Long 510/901 Derlin Drip Tips

This is the Rolls Royce of drip tips. Very pricey for the stainless steel type, but you'll have it essentially forever: Super T Manufacturing, Innovative manufacturer of electronic cigarette products.

These are fun: Colored 510/901 Drip Tips

I've got a stainless drip tip but it's a little too big to fit in the cone of my eGo. I use a deldrin one and it fits perfectly. On my 510 I didn't like the stainless one because it's heavy and threw off the balance. You're right about the stainless one getting warm. When I'd chain vape it got rather annoying. I guess I just don't like the stainless one at all.
