I couldn't get the eGo (mega?) cartos to work on my Riva.
I have an ego and my wife has the riva and she had the same problem. I notched the air vents a little deeper on the bottom of the carto and used a bent paper clip to pull the battery end out(very gently) and they worked reasonably well.

Apparently a couple types of atomizer or cartomizer with unusually short threads may need an extender to work on Riva and other Ego clones (these are mainly items by the Ego manufacturer like the Ego mega cartos and they designed a tight fit). Riva 510 is a popular clone of Ego (also 510-threaded), less expensive, easier to buy (no confusing choices of needing to know what fits with what on Riva). Liberty-Flights.com is the best place to check them out - press the 20% off first in the upper left of front page so the prices will show lowered. Then look at Riva 510 and Ego.

I wasn't planning to use atomizers anyway except to drip test juices so I didn't need all of those choices. I got the Riva 510 Lite Bundle there for under $30 and use Boge cartomizers on it.

The only main difference I've noticed by comparing Ego and Riva is the price lol. Riva is pretty much exactly the same as Ego, only with a longer battery life. Ego battery lasts me a whole day of heavy vaping. I find it very convenienet to only charge it everynight. I wouldn't spend anything more than the price of ego for an extra hour of battery life, pfft.

Celestino (customer service rep at evcigarettes where I bought my RiVa) sent me the below reply to my question. I have to say -- I am super-impressed by the service this company provides. Celestino is right on top of things -- spots my questions on this board and jumps right in with a personal response. That kind of service will definitely keep me as a confirmed evcigarettes customer.

Anyway, here's the response:

The 2 reasons we also include eGo in the name description is

1: list that it is compatiable with all eGo parts
2: for search engine optimization (so the product can be found when searched for)

This style PV was originally created by Joyetech hence the Joye eGo. From what I understand an engineer that worked at Joyetech that helped design eGo quit Joyetech and is now with Eastmall/Unicig and they developed the RiVa which has a soft rubber button versus the plastic type button on the eGo. The RiVa (750 mAh) also has 100 more mAh than the Joye eGo (650 mAh) The newest model RiVas (which we carry) are also a True 3.7V device where as the Joye eGo is only about a 3.2V device. See below links about voltages:

Titanium Riva Riva Starter Kit
Battery Voltages -- Surprise!

Last but not least, the RiVa is also being produced by other companies like Hello, and I would classify these as a knock off RiVas. With all the above distinctions, I really wouldn't classify the RiVa as a knockoff eGo with the RiVa being a better PV compared to the eGo.

EVcigarettes and by extension Celestino, is an awesome supplier with great customer service. The EM Riva is a fantastic (IMHO) PV. Longer battery life, higher voltage off the charger, nicer button. You picked my favorite PV... you just found it sooner than I did. :) I don't use attys, I use cartomizers and I haven't had any problems with either. Just prefer the EM Riva.

Let us know how you love it!

I'm loving it lots! I'll love it even more if I can give up the analogs by using it.

I had BC 10 years ago, and my family was furious that I went back to smoking a couple of months later. But like so many others, I didn't want to quit. I liked smoking. It made me happy. I managed to cut back from 2 PAD to 1, but didn't think I'd ever be able to quit.

Lately, though, I've started coughing so much that it's become embarrassing. Plus, I no longer smoke in the house and it's 105 degrees outside, which makes smoke breaks less than pleasant. Plus plus, I'll be starting practice again with my choir in a couple months, and I'm hoping to get a little range back before then. I've been singing tenor with the guys, which is fun, but it'd be nice to be able to hit a high C when I want to. Or even an A!

I'm so glad you're loving it!! I'm betting you'll be able to quit analogs... I never wanted to quit either... after 48 yrs of smoking I still loved it. Got a starter kit last Aug, and haven't looked back. Just don't get frustrated, look ahead not back. You'll be hitting those high notes AND holding 'em. :)
