Okay, so - newbie here... purchased the mini pcc vapor king 808D model and I'm not very happy w/ it. Not a good hit (feels like I'm not doing anything) carto get's hot ... and not enough of a satisfaction when switching from analogs

After doing some research on this site .. I'm looking at a 510 or a riva. Based on the fact that I've spent over 250 dollars in the last week trying to make decisions (and impulsively making, then cancelling them) I'm asking for opinions this time!! Anyone feel like being the critic?! :p Looking for a cheap but substantial kit!!

I'd go with Riva (aka: eGo, Tornado, Hello 16) since it's just a 510 with a bigger, longer lasting battery. The 510 battery doesn't last long enough IMO. Plus, I'd get a box of cartomizers ($10) and a drip tip ($2) just to try them out.

But tell us about the juice and/or cartos you are using? Is it possible that the mg of your nic isn't high enough? Do you have the Kr808D-1 or 2?

My first kit was a SS No. 7 (aka mini) It was horrible! The batteries wouldn't hold a charge and it took longer to recharge them than it did to vape them.

If you're looking for something with a long battery charge, I suggest the eGo/Riva. I just got my eGo yesterday and the battery life is awesome! From what I've heard, the 510 doesn't have nearly as long of a battery life as the eGo/Riva. I bought my eGo from cignot.com. Good service and fast with filling the order and getting it shipped out. They have free shipping on orders $59 or more. My kit came with a fast USB charger and it took less than 2 hours to fully recharge. I got about 16 hours of vape time out of one charge but I wasn't chain vaping. If you are going to chain vape, expect the batteries to last about 6 to 10 hours.

I would go with an ego 900mAh, get 2 manual batts,2 cones and a charger, couple LR510 attys and a couple of reg 510 attys. Liberty flights has 6 month warranty on the batts. Use code august20 for 20% off total cost. Best warranty, excellent product:2cool:

All depends on what is important to you katielynn. If you really want a small cigarette like device, go with the 510. Be advised if you do, you will need a few batteries and a PCC to get you through the day as they die quickly. The standard Riva is about the same length as the 510 with a cart on and about twice as big around. Battery life is WAY better on the RIVA. I can go an entire day with two fully charged 650 mAh batteries and still have power left over. You can go with the 900mAh Rivas and get even more mileage with just a little bit longer device. I switch between my Riva 650mAh and a KR808D like you have now and the size difference doesn't really bother me at all.

What does KR stand for by the way? On the pcc charger case it doesn't say, it just says Model : 808D/808D-1

It could possibly be low nic b/c I grabbed a green tea SAMPLE instead of the cart's I ordered (11mg) this one has the #4 on the side ... the cowboy menthol has #8 on the side which is another sample but I do get better hits off of that one, just not a big fan of the warmth I get from the cart or the flavor of the menthol. When I get home from work I'm going to try the 11mg sample of green tea... unless that number is 4 as well - then I have no idea what I'm doing lol!

Battery life isn't a huge deal for me ... obviously I'm going to vape more on different occasions but the pcc mini has lasted today with no problems. I want something that feels like a cigarette - but a lot of people have recommended the riva ..

Also -- side note - I've ordered a manual battery this morning b/c mine is an auto and I've learned you can get a better drag/control off of a manual.

You should be able to get a good hit of the PV that you have (it's a good kit), but you might need a higher mg juice to do it. Most new vapers do well with 18-24mg juice, but it sounds like you are using 4mg, 8mg, and 11mg. The mg's will also effect how strong it feels.

If size is not an issue, you should be fine with what you have. I'd experiment with other juices, flavors, strengths and PG vs. VG.

Good Luck!

I have been using both for some time now, and find that it really depends on what you are going for. If you want it to resemble a cigarette, then the 510 is for you. If you don't mind it not looking like a cigarette, the ego or riva is a better value because of the battery life being so much longer. I still use my 510 batteries, they just require more frequent charging. Nothing at all wrong with them, and if you prefer a cig style PV, then it's not a bad choice to go with. I will say that I prefer the manual batteries though.

She knows what she is talking about! LOL Everything Rosa has posted has worked for me. Either she and i have similar habits or she just knows the right thing to do. Or both. :)

I started with similar equipment, wasn't satisfied and moved to Riva and Ego.

In your case it may be issue with nicotine level. If you are buying pre-filled cartomizers and don't have extra juice to add up - it may be hard to get what you are looking for.

I would try to get juices with different nic levels: 8mg, 11mg, 18 mg + pack of empty wow (they have lover resistance and produce more vapor) cartomizers. From V4L I like WowBoy juice - still my everyday vape.

If it's not good enough - you can't go wrong with Riva or Ego - just look for good deals.
Liberty Flights and LiteCigUSA have great deals of Ego + Liberty Flights offers Riva for 29.99, but they are out of stock right now.

Can't have everything. If you want a cigarette form-factor, the battery will be small. If the whole setup is miniature, it's not going to kick up as much vapor for as long. That's one of the first tradeoffs. I decided I don't care, it's not a cigarette, it's a personal vaporiser. I want to chain-vape, and I want to be able to swap out flavors often. I don't want to be breathing melting plastic from the "batting", so carts are a problem. I don't even know if a "throat hit" is a good idea, as it's just a sign of irritation and cell damage.

Design-wise, it probably comes down to something like a Joye 510 for cig-alike or a Joye eGo/Tornado for performance. That gives me chain-vaping using 2 batteries. For less irritation, I use less PG, more VG, and use a higher nicotine level for "satisfaction". Nobody says you have to limit yourself to 24 mg/ml. Dripping bypasses the cart batting fuming problem, and makes it easy to change flavors. And finally inhaling very shallow and using it more like a pipe, holding vapor in the mouth and blowing through the nose for nicotine absorbtion, is probably a better idea than deep inhalation followed by eye-bugging coughs, as some demonstrate on YouTube ... "Cool Throat Hit!! .. Aaack Gaaaak!". We like the vapor, the gestures, the nicotine. Who says it has to mimic cigarettes in other respects?

The Riva has made me very happy. I recommend it to anyone.

I bought a Joye 510 kit in July, but i spent most of that time on a passthrough. In August, i got myself a Riva kit (for the same price) for mobility's sake. Now i use the Riva's pretty much exclusively, but i still like having the little 510 batteries around; so much so, that this weekend i bought myself a stainless steel Joye 510 starter kit ($35 for 2 batts and 2 attys plus rest of kit) to go with my 2 matte black batts and various 510 attys/cartos. I also bought my first PCC.

The Riva or the 510 are both good choices. You cant go wrong with either one. Just make sure you buy it from a trusted supplier that offers a warranty like StrictlyEjuice.com, Flavor Shop! Janty also offers a 3 month warranty strictlyejuice offers 6 month on batteries.

I find it mildly amusing that their site's name is strictlyejuice, meanwhile i mostly buy equipment from them. Mostly because the prices are so good, and that 6 month warranty doesnt hurt, either.

You might also consider trying a DSE901 attomizer and cartridge combo or atty and drip tip. 901 atties are compatable with the kr808. I've done this and my satisfaction level with the kr808 has been vastly improved.
