Can someone show me a photo of their Riva, in their hand preferably, and tell me the approx. dimensions? There's a deal for a $25 Riva starter kit but it says there's no warranty. Is getting an e-cig with no warranty asking for trouble? Thanks for your help.

As a side question, is there a way to possibly just show posts in a thread that have photos? On Craftster, for example, I can sort posts just by photos, and since I'm a very visual learner, looking at people's setups is nice and helpful, but weeding through all the responses with just text isn't so much.

The silver one is the 650/750 one with a normal sized carto in it, black one is the 1100 Riva. Diameter is ½ inch at base of battery.

The RIVA was the “cats pajamas” kit when I first got here, every new member was recommended to get one. The KGO now seems to hold that position. I own both and can't tell a difference between the two. Rivas are good kits.

Hi and Welcome to ECF, I'm not sure how you could search out posts that only have photo's, maybe one of the Moderators can help you there, but this is a good thread with setups and lot's of pics http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/225727-pictures-your-setup-536.html :)

I just joined last week and to me what seems to be the cat's pjs is the eGo twist? And of course this Provari thing. I've also been seeing some of this KGO thing but I don't know anything about it.

Click on the above link and go to post #11 to see the KGO (same size as the Riva) next to a Sharpie and a Highlighter.
That is exactly what I was looking for, and is super helpful, thank you.

I had to break down and buy an nJoy kit at the drug store, since I've been so indecisive about what to buy online. Still going to purchase something online, but like I said, indecisive. I thought I'd be wanting the smallest, but now since I have this nJoy I think that'll serve the small purpose. I don't want anything ginormous, still would like relatively pocket sized, but a sharpie or highlighter seems to fit in that category to me, but nothing bigger (for the time being :p).

Can I buy cheap generic cartridges for this nJoy? Can I refill the cartridges somehow? Should I do a twist or a Riva or this KGO thing? Ahhhhhhh, still so overwhelming! Also, is doing that whole handful-o-box-mod business the way to go if you're poor and need to vape? I know these could be in other threads, but thought I'd just ask here while I'm responding.

You are all so helpful and nice and welcoming, I really appreciate the support. Thanks again!

hi Flarg and welcome to ECF,

The Duke was nice enough to post not just in his hand but with a ruler. Please keep in mind tho, anytime you see pictures in someones hand is not all that good for sizing. We have a few members in ECF who's hands are big enough they can make a full sized big battery pv look like a pen.

I would not have thought it possible UNTIL I seen pictures of one of the guys holding a vtube mini in his closed fist and the only thing you could see was the very top of the dct on it.

If you're looking for a little more ooph than the njoy but still will fit in a pocket, the Riva or Kgo (about the same thing) will work just fine. The Twist is a big step up but is longer so if you go with a Twist get the 650 mah size. It's as long as a 1100mah Kgo and that is the maximum size that I can really fit into my jeans front pocket without poking myself where I don't like to be poked.

The Riva and the KGo are unregulated 3.7V devices. Off the charger they will deliver 4.2V and this will gradually diminish until the battery looses it's charge at around 3.2V. They perform best with low resistance atomizers or cartos. The batteries are good for about 300 charges, so they will need to be replaced after 6 months to a year depending on how often you recharge them. Either one will make for a good entry level device and are relatively cheap.

The Twist would be a step up. It will allow you to vary the voltage between 3.2V and 4.8V to get the most performance out of your carto and the best flavor out of your juice. At around $20-$25 per battery, I would recommend this as an entry level device. Just start with a low voltage and just turn it up until you get the vapor/flavor/warmth you like.

The Provari is definitively top of the line in VV devices. They provide 2.8V-6.0V and use removable batteries that are cheaper to replace. They are made of stainless steel, so they are pretty heavy for the size. The fit and finish is outstanding. They come with a 1 year warranty but they are not cheap.

Hope this helps make your decision easier.

Here's a pic of a Riva 750 mAh, a Twist 650 mAh and a Provari with an exytension for the 18650 battery:

Flarg, the safest route is probably the Twist because, being variable voltage, you can adjust the voltage (within certain limits) to fit the carto/clearo/tank you are using.

Like Harplayr said, if I was going with the Twist, I'd probably get the 650mah version because of its smaller size (relative to the 1000mah version). I think the 650mah Twist is just a little bigger than the 1100mah KGO, but still a very manageable size.

I've been very happy with my KGO and I don't regret buying it at all. But if I was doing it all over again today, and knew what I know today, I'd probably get about 3 of the 650mah Twists (2 for a regular rotation and 1 for a backup in case 1 of the regulars failed). I'd stick a couple of Vivi Nova tanks on them (mini or full size), add a couple of stardust clearomizers, some juice, a charger and I'd vape happily off into the sunset. :)

If you look at Stef64's photo above, the Riva and the Twist have Stardust clearos on them, and the Provari has a full size Vivi Nova tank on it.
