So, I got my Riva UNC today. I know there has been some question about the mah on these. The manual says it is a 1300 mah.

I really like this thing. The battery is larger, longer, fatter than the 750 Riva. I can't wait to get a full work day in tomorrow and see how it holds up.

The only problem I have so far, is the cone that comes with the kit does not fit the black Boge cartomizers. The smaller end of the cone is too small to fit over the sticker covered carto. It does fit well over carts though. I just don't use carts.

I did make it work by removing the black sticker from around the Boge carto. The cone WILL fit if it is removed.

I have notified the supplier to see if they are aware of this since the kit advertises that it works with all 510 parts.

I will update tomorrow night after I have used this thing all day while on the road. I can't wait to see how long it lasts.

All top of cones are that size, btw. Find someone who has a reamer or get one of these:

Hmmm...Thats strange. My Riva SE cones fit perfectly with the stickers on the cartos. Hmm.

Thanks for the link. I'm a girl and not real handy with tools. I can pull off stickers though. LOL!

Find some gearhead and ask them. It's an easy procedure. I have found some cones that will accomodate some cartos but mostly they cut the air supply off. Some just file a few notches in the top - the reamer result can be better looking. If you go that way - have him measure the original gap between the regular 510 atty/cart and the cone and then measure the diameter of the carto and have him make the same gap.

Thank you! Ill see if I can find a gearhead around.

thats a good idea, kent !

i have a box of those rotary files in my shed...thats what we called them many years ago, lol

all i have to do is take an old screwdriver handle (with the metal insert), put a set screw in it, and add it to my modders tool kit for future use

it will be a lot easier to use in a handle (more control in detailed situations, such as this), they tended to "chatter" and/or jump around a little bit in a drill

you must have some "modder" blood in ya, lol

thanks, gervis

Welcome. The sinclair is more of a 'ammo reloading' blood thing :) but it works just fine for cones too. And you're right - unless you have a good hold on the cone you don't want to drill it. The champhering takes off on the inside so that the outside finish isn't screwed up too.

I've had no problem with cartos on the three Riva 510 cones I'm using without any modifications.

They vary more these days - probably because of the popularity of the eGo/Riva than before. Almost all of the earlier KR808D-1 cartos while using an adapter needed a cone modification and some of the 510 cartos. The 510 cartos then started to fit better. Evidently the Riva cones are a bit more forgiving....
