Reynolds American 1st-Quarter Cigarette Volume Slumps | 4-Traders

As cigarette volumes fall, tobacco makers have aimed to sell more smokeless products, including snuff and snus, but are also looking to other alternatives to traditional cigarettes that are seeing rapid growth. This year, Reynolds has said it plans to significantly invest in nicotine-replacement gum Zonnic and Vuse e-cigarettes.

Mr. Delen said the company would soon give investors an update to the company's expansion plans for Vuse, while saying Reynolds American had been generating valuable feedback from the test launch of Zonnic in Des Moines, Iowa, late last year.

Too bad I will never purchase a vuse, and anyone I turn on to ecig, I explain rj Reynolds underhanded methods and why they shouldn't purchase a vuse because of this.

Agreed. All new users should be told about RJ Reynolds attempts to capture the e cig business and force it into tobacco distribution networks, and to strangle on line purchases of both hardware and e liquid. Lorillard is also going along with some of this, even though they own Blu as it will similarily strengthen their position in the market (they think).

Big Tobacco must not be allowed to take over the E cig market, period. They are not trustworthy in the first place, and their greed knows no bounds.

I really didn't have a problem with BT being in the ecig space. Until they started their underhanded grab for control of the market via state legislatures. Way to turn some potential allies against you BT.

This move by RJR was ultimately predictable. Not because they are "evil tobacco", but because they are a very big corporation. Those that control the flow of money in this country will not give up what they believe should be their share without a fight. They have the resources, and they have the legislators in their pockets.

I felt the same way. Everyone should have a chance to capture the market with a quality product that has a good price point. But I guess expecting honest competition from a major corporation was me being blindly optimistic.

Big Tobacco doesn't want to kill their customers...
At least if they can help it.

With electronic cigarettes, they can grow a base of lifelong customers.
To put things in that might kill those customers would be stupid under the circumstances.

If there is any one thing I know for certain, they are not stupid.
