Hi Steve. Good decision, you won't regret. I started off with a Janty stick. When I got a Kanger Protank, thought I was in vaping heaven. Then someone in the forum with the handle ForeverTwoWheels mentioned Reo/Reomizer, which led here. Just the other day took a Protank vape. The problem...there's no turning back from Reo/Reomizer. Enjoy. Update us on your experience.

After I started building micro coils on my RBA's I couldn't go back to my protanks or other tank systems. The quality of the vape just wasn't the same. I wanted the same vape without the inconvenience of having to drip. I rebuilt two of my protanks with micro coils hoping that would do it.....no dice. There was some improvement, but not what I was looking for.

I've gotten a REO with RM2 and all my issues are solved.

I put a 510 on my REO as I understand that was the popular method of use prior to the Reomizers. Good vape, but I was back to the RM2 within 10 minutes.

Purchasing the REO with the RM2 has been the best vaping purchase/decision I've made to date.

I am so juiced (pun intended) to get a RM2 and get to vaping the latest and greatest. I am vaping the 510 now, as I have been for a while. Convenient and trusty but now that I know there is another level to be obtained - I am going to jump on it. I also really like the fact that once you purchase the RM2 the cost of rebuilding is incredibly inexpensive. No more getting caught with only burnt tasting carts waiting for vape mail.

I also appreciated the friendly and knowledgeable folks in the Reo clan.

Hey, Steve. You're going to have a hard time snagging one of those ohm meters unless you're real lucky (or pay an exorbitant amount on e-bay) and you really should have some way to measure ohms if you're going to get into rebuildables. I recommend a nice digital multimeter. You can pick one up at your local hardware store or (if pickin's are slim) one from here:

Meters : UNI-T UT10A Multimeter

I hear you on the ability to check the ohms. I vape an organic juice that can burn easier than other juices so I need to know how hot I am vaping. How would I use the multimeter once I have a coil built?

Thanks for the link and your suggestions.

^^^+1. Actually, more like $.05 cents. I paid about $6 for 100 feet of Kanthal A1 wire (you use about 3 inches per coil) and I paid about $3 for enough organic cotton to last 200 people 50 years. The RM2 will pay for itself very, very quickly.

Can you give me a link for the wire? I saw a link for the 30 gauge wire and it was $5.53 for 100' and free shipping to boot. But I lost that tab and..well...these threads are huge to search through.

A link for the cotton source would be cool too.

Thanks in advance and all this help is just great.

I was going to wait until I had some more funds at my disposal before ordering the RM2 but I am waiting no more! I just got a nasty burned taste out of my 510 cart and I say enough is bleeping enough already. Pull the trigger! Full steam ahead!

30 gauge wire

CVS sterile cotton in a roll, first aid section. Organic cotton balls, or sterile cotton balls work too.

Am I the only Reonaut who uses his 'vari to meter ohms or am I the only Reonaut who still has his 'varis? In either case, there's a lot of Reos 'n Provari love happening under ol' RHP's roof folks. ::ducks::

RHP

seems like a recipe for another nasty genetic mutation...

More importantly you need to make sure you don't have a dead short. The batteries we use don't like shorts. The hot spring in the Reo will collapse if the battery gets hot but then you need a new spring, possibly a new battery and or firing button (they melt). Worst case scenario the battery will vent.

I'm not trying to scare you, these events are fairly rare, but these are possibilities that you need to be aware of when building your own coils. Don't skimp on the batteries...get AW IMR or equivalent.

On the up side, if you haven't built coils before then the RM2 is a pretty good atty to learn on as the ceramic base helps prevent the kind of shorts we don't want.

As for checking the atty itself it's easy peasy. When using a multimeter I like to check with the atty on the device...that way I know everything is working okay. With the cap off the RM2 simply set the multimeter to the ohms setting and touch the two leads to the screws on the posts and then read what the display says. Anywhere between 1.2 to 2.0 ohms will work. I like mine in the 1.2 range but weirdos like Russ prefer something in the area of 2 ohms :)tongue:).

1.5 ohms is a good target for starting out. Once you're more familiar with building coils you can experiment and find out what suits you best.

Pay attention to Russ's videos and check out the micro-coils thread here in Reoville and you'll be fine. I think you'll be amazed at the difference in vape quality (ooohhh...I have goose bumps just thinking about it).

Insanely great reply - I am impressed and thank you!

Yes, after learning the RM2 has a ceramic floor and other rebuild-able attys do not - I am pleased to have the mighty RM2 in route to my very location. I am so pumped to get vaping on the RM2. I am right chuffed there is something better than the 510 cartos I have been using for ever.

Steve - I use a Vamo to read my resistance, but have read in this forum that some multimeters have an internal resistance. What you have to do is, after setting it to the ohms setting, touch the two leads together. The reading that the touching gives, must be subtracted from your reading of the coil resistance. Thought this is of import to know.
