RM2 emergency wicking situation

I really do hate to ask this and I hope no one is offended but here's my situation.

Last night I rebuilt one of my RM2s. I tested it out and went to bed. This morning on the drive in i noticed some dry hitting and all efforts to squonk would not help. I feared that the cotton wick was improperly situated or maybe not thick enough and sure enough on inspection it had burned through. I have no cotton here at work.

I was however, able to obtain a tampon from a female co-worker and made a new wick by taking some of the cotton from it.

This seems to be working fine in terms of vaping. My question is, is this safe? Is there anything in tampon cotton that could be dangerous to inhale?

I only vape tampon cotton after dental work But really, I'm no expert on tampon materials but I would think it would be OK. I've used the end off of a Q-tip before with no ill effects. Let us know how it goes.

Kotex is made (they invented it) from cellucotton AKA Rayon.
Unscented only, discard the string and the outer "blend" covering.
The fibers are a bit short, but will work in a RM2/cyclone perfectly.

If you're uneasy about the tampon cotton, you could always raid the office first aid kit for some gauze.

Always carry some wicking material. Or at least keep a small stash in strategic locations such your desk drawer, your car's glovebox, etc, etc.

What makes you think that tampon was actually made of cotton? It might actually rayon.

As for safety, well, it's intended to be in intimate contact with mucous membranes for extended periods of time, so I doubt it's gonna kill you.

hahahaha...i didnt actually ask her for a tampon...im like look my ecig died do you have any cotton balls or q-tips...and she said "no" and i said any cotton at all? then she laughed and said "well, i do have some tampons" ...it was sorta awkward but i've known her a long time

Pretty sure I would have raided the first-aid kit. I think I would cut a strip of (my own) sock and pulled out the stretchy parts first. As far as I'm concerned when the tampons come out, the playground is closed. I'm not smoking a tampon, one more reason against cellucotton.

I have on several occasions used cotton Gauze from the first aid kit it works ok sometimes kinda medical tasting for a bit but it goes away

for the record i did try the first aid kit, there's no gauze left in ours...i hope no one gets a serious gash here

its funny because everytime i roll a cotton wick and my wife sees me she's always saying 'oh you're making mini tampons again"

There's just far too many places to go with this one that boarder on extremely bad taste. I better leave this alone. Stick a tuft of cotton behind your juice bottle or move to Readyxwick, problem solved.

i will do it but ummm this is working rather well
