RM2 FULL atomizer itself rebuild (Pic heavy)

I need to break my RM2 down for cleaning, but have noticed mine does not have the slotted groove on the bottom. How do you go about using the 15 mm Hex key?

The new RM2 510 pin is just poorly designed in more ways than one (see post #51 of this thread)
I use a short 1.5mm hex bit
The bit gets a little thicker at about half way up the bit
I gently tap it into the 510 pin of the RM2
An L shaped hex key will not work because it does not get thicker its entire length
The bit is from a tool set from RadioShack

Thankfully my new RM2 (bought used) has the old slotted pin

Come to think of it...
I had another problem with the new RM2 510 pin, I mentioned it earlier in this thread
The new 510 pin is two pieces that spin on each other (bad design)
I was lucky to even get it out the first time I disassembled the RM2
I silver soldered (lead free) the two pieces of the pin together and that was the end of that problem

Am I understanding this right? In the LP RM2, is the bottom part of the base not modified in any way other than the hole in the center pin?

lip around deck cut down,
channel cut in ceramic deck,
channel cut in metal disk that connects the positive posts
new insulator installed
negative post removed.

I have bought the $10 triangle atty that he modifies (for spare parts) and even thought about moding a few, but after looking at it decided Rob's version is well worth the money. The only difference is the base on the LP is not machined down to 14mm

Left one (near juice hole) is NEGATIVE Post; ...Right one is POSITIVE post...correct??

Thanks for confirmation FB. Experimenting with wrapping directions of the coil. Seem to have better firing with counter-clock wraps.

Interesting observation, I just looked my are counter clockwise, maybe because I'm left handed.

Thanks to all in this thread for the assist last night in troubleshooting my RM2 issue. I am on the road without proper tools, but was able to redeploy my RM2 last night by just reading through this thread.

Bookmarked and subscribed. Thanks for the tutorial and pics. I can't tell you how many times I almost started trying to disassemble to see the inner workings, because that's what we do, and stopped myself realizing that I didn't know how it went together and could ruin a perfectly good atomizer..

In this pic you see the ss disk with the bevel facing up..This is wrong. Your center post screws into the center with juice flowing through it. If assembled this way the juice would deadhead against the ceramic. Notice the slot cut in the ceramic flow hole. The ss disk needs flipped in order for proper juice flow.

Finally had to use this thread after breaking out my rm2 from it's dormancy. My positive pin was pushed in. Hadn't noticed when I last used it. Disassembled and look at the positive screw. In shambles.(Bottom) Really annoying is that I have the right thread screw that's just mm's too short to drill and replace it.

How much of this design did Rob do? It's impressive...

Finding 3/56 or m2.5 screws over 1/4"is hard....
